What are your proposals to make Intel DCH drivers compatibel with Windows 10 Update 1809?

I tried an Update Windows 10 1809. Did not work and SetupDiagResults.log showed Intel 530 Graphics could not be updated. So I updated to the new DCH drivers. Same effect with the new driver.

Error: Found a device installation hang during device install phase, device information follows:

   Driver Version: 22.20.16.4749

As you nicely said in your DCH Documentation, that inf-driver updates will not work, probably Microsoft doesnt know about this. Windows Update obviously tries to update the drivers with the igdlh64.inf.

My update 1809 is now locked. It will not work till there are Intel drivers compatible with MS update procedure.

What are your proposals?

from above report , your graphics device is already installed dch driver 25.20.100.6471 ,

New dch driver file name is iigd_dch.inf

Legacy or standard driver file name is igdlh64.inf

from your post , I can conclude standard driver is installation failed

but new dch driver is successfully .

Will you check with the intel DSA tool , install and run it , share the report the here

The new DCH driver is installed and works well. What does not work is the Windows 10 update 1809, which tries to install the igdlh64.inf, which then fails.

What you see in my above entry is the report from the DSA tool (driver and support assistent = DSA). It's not all, but it's the part for the graphics, which should be sufficient.

I am sorry, but I don't understand you. You have a asus laptop with windows 1809 and the actual Intel graphics driver installed? Then gratulation. I still have to get to your point.

To repeat the behaviour of my notebook, one has to install the intel dch drivers on a Windows 10 before 1809 (for example 1803 like in my case) and then start a windows 10 update 1809.

You obviously would not do that as a customer.

I was hoping I get an answer from Intel in this forum.

same thing I did . till 31/12/2018 laptop was running 1803 with installed dch driver 25.20.100.6471.

on 01/01/2019 , I upgraded to 1809 by running setup.exe on windows 10 1809 buildno 17763.107 , which is downloaded from Persian website .

windows 10 1809 is successfully upgraded without BSOD .

From 02/02/2018 no BSOD

Thank you for your answer. So you had a similar situation. Main difference is: Mine is Windows 10 Home and I know it is not directly comparable with enterprise especially refering to updates. Second is, that my notebook is a gaming notebook with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M.

Have you tried with the latest version https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28515/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=88345? You need to make sure you Windows 10 is to update to avoid installation issues.

Thank you for your answer, but I dont have problems installing the Intel driver. Windows update 1809 has problems with the new DCH drivers.

Every installation of the Windows update means 2 GB download = 2 hours plus installation and probably rollback = 1 hour. I have successfully installed 25.20.100.6471. The actual version now is DCH 25.20.100.6519. The problem is, that Intel says, that these drivers MUST NOT be installed using the .inf-driver with driver manager. But the Windows update obviously does so. So this is something Intel has to make clear with Microsoft. I am not interested to try new driver versions every few days and something like 4 hour work and blocking of my working computer to update Windows. Till now the expense is five Windows 1809 updates plus rollback = more than 10 hours. Two times the intel driver was the reason in the SetupDiagResults.log. One time the developer mode needed to be switched off in Windows to install from the ISO.

I am IT prof. Buying a new computer in half a year is cheaper. My Windows runs well, only the feature update 1809 will not work. I will try that whole thing again in half a year. And if it does not work I try disabling the Intel onboard graphics.
