I have an Acer Aspire E1-531-4624 that I installed windows 7 on because its much simpler than what it came with (windows 😎 it currently has a standard graphics driver running. I have tried going to the manufacturers website for the (intel HD graphics) but whenever I install it the screen goes black after the windows boot screen. I have tried multiple times searching for different drivers but they always result in a black screen and I am forced to rollback the driver to the standard one. I can only run a limited amount of programs with this outdated driver and I would appreciate any help. I am unaware if this helps but it is running an Intel B960 processor 2.2 GHz. I shall await a response.

You can try these three different options.
1. Check with your computer manufacturer for customized graphics drivers; download and install the last version according to your laptop model and OS. Keep in mind that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can add, remove, alter or change features in the controller drivers according to their system designs.http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
2. Try installing the latest Intel® HD graphics Driver according to your processor.
In this hyperlink you can find Intel® HD Graphics Production Driver for Windows® 7/8.1 64-bit (N-Series), for your controller.

3. Get into the Windows® Device Manager and in the Display adapters uninstall the Intel® HD graphics; after that install all the windows updates (this is to get the default drivers form Windows®).

Hellen.

Hi Ethan_Palen,
I suggest you to get in contact your OEM; in order to get further information about the availability of drivers for your device while using Windows® 7.
In the following link you will find Acer Support

Hello Esteban,
Thanks for replaying although I have not been able to solve this problem.
I'm not really sure what's causing the problem but whenever I try to install a graphics driver and restart the laptop, the screen turns black on boot.
Any help is appreciated

I attached the results, hopefully it is openable. On a side note, would the graphics card be integrated into the motherboard?

Hi Ethan_Palen
Try to install 8.15.10.2653 Driver version from your OEM, search by your Product Model Aspire E1-531 and select your Operating System Windows® 7 64-bit; let me know the outcome.

Hello,
Unfourtaunaly, I am receiving the same results. Everything started smoothly and the install finished. However after a restart, the computer shows the Acer logo followed by the loading windows screen. After the windows screen goes away, the screen shuts off for about a second and comes back on only to have a black screen, nothing else. I have waited on this black screen for countless hours before and there was no progress. I even tried connecting an HDMI cable to my tv and had the same results. I then have to enter safe mode and reinstall the Standard VGA Graphics driver again.
Thanks
Ethan

Hi Ethan_Palen,
Let's try this to discard the built in the screen as an issue.
Set single display with external monitor (Ctrl+P and select second display only).
Try to replicate the issue with this scenario.
Take a look in this site; it is Microsoft® troubleshooting for Black Screen.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/troubleshoot-black-screen-problems http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/troubleshoot-black-screen-problems
Let me know the results

Hellen.
