Why is it impossible to connect a LG 65B6V OLED TV to a PC with Intel HD Graphics 630?

I have a LG 65B6V OLED TV and a DELL Optiplex 7050 Micro (i7) PC with Intel Graphics HD 630.

When I connect the computer to the LG TV (via HDMI), it shows the Dell-logo for a short while and then it goes black showing the message "no signal".

When I connect the same computer to another 4K TV (Sony) (via HDMI), it works fine.

When I connect another computer (laptop with HDMI) to my LG TV, it works fine.

I'm not a computer expert, so I'm wondering what is the issue here?

Has similar problems been reported by others?

ArneB: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Graphics communities. We wil do our best to provide the information you are looking for.

In regard to your inquiry, it could be a compatibility problem between the LG TV and the computer itself, there are some cases where the products are just not compatible with each other and they will not work properly together.

For this type of scenario we recommend, if you have the option of course, to make sure you are using a high quality HDMI cable, to test different cables, and if it there is more than one HDMI port, to test all of them.

In this case to try to fix this problem we can install the graphics driver provided by Dell, please try driver version 22.20.16.4771 ,A04:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/optiplex-7050-desktop/drivers http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/optiplex-7050-desktop/drivers

If the problem persists, we can test driver 4901:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909

Additionally, some TVs have the option to do a firmware update and sometimes they have their own driver, so that is something that you can always confirm with LG directly:

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Thank You for Your feedback.

I've tried all what You suggest, but the problem remains.

I wonder if my problem is similar to the problem described in this thread:

ArneB: You are welcome. Thank you very much for providing that information. The problem is actually not the same since the products used are different.

In this case, what we recommend as the next thing to do, will be to get in contact directly with Dell for further technical or warranty assistance, a BIOS update might be useful in this case, since from our side we basically tried all the steps we recommend for this scenario:

Any questions, please let me know.

Tnx for your advice. 🙂

Parts of your answer says: "In this case, what we recommend as the next thing to do, will be to get in contact directly with Dell for further technical or warranty assistance, a BIOS update might be useful in this case, since from our side we basically tried all the steps we recommend for this scenario:"

Can't see that contact with Dell would solve the problem, since it is a problem with the graphics solution provided by Intel (Intel HD Graphics 630) and the LG TV (LG65B6V).

Have you really tried to connect this specific type of computer (or at least a computer with Intel HD Graphics 630) to this specific type of TV with success?

I don't have the time to follow up this issue and I can live easily without any solution to the problem, since I can use my laptop instead.

Just wanted to notify you people at Intel about a possible software problem that exists between these products from Intel and LG.

I would have assumed that both companies should be interested in fixing this problem, and as a consumer I would have wished that LG or Intel (or Microsoft) released an automatic update for this issue. Maybe this is too much to hope for, but I'm an optimist, still.

ArneB: You are very welcome. We apologize for any inconvenience. Remember that the Intel graphics drivers are generic, meaning they may or may not work with your platform, for that same reason we recommend to install the drivers provided in this case by Dell. By getting in contact with them, they will be able to confirm if they have any reports about this specific laptop having compatibility problems with an LG TV, besides that, they will be able to do further testings about this subject or provide further suggestions about how to fix it.

From our side, we can report that we tested the Intel® NUC7i3BNH, that works with Intel® HD Graphics 620 and uses the same graphics driver as HD Graphics 630, we connect it to a LG TV 55UH8500 and it works with no problems.

Any questions, please let me know.

I tried again, after running a new Windows update, and now it works!

Resolution is 4096x2160 @ 30 Hz.

Seems like there was an issue with the drivers.
