intel integrated graphics hdmi refresh rate bug

Recap:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/The-Intel-integrated-graphics-driver-cannot-find-the-75hz-option/m-p/1441993

I bought 2 nuc12wski7 and NUC12DCMi9, I found that when I use HDMI cable, I can't set 75hz refresh rate.

I use the same monitor, the same cable, plug it into an amd or nvidia graphics card and it can set 75hz correctly.

Whether it is the integrated graphics card of i9-12900 or the integrated graphics card of I7 1260P, the output of 75hz cannot be set under the windows platform.

intel graphics command center can recognize that the display supports 1080p 75hz, but it cannot be set.

But I can display 75hz correctly using ubuntu 22.04 and fedora 37.

Is there any solution please?

Hello number201724,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel® NUC 12 Extreme Kit - NUC12DCMi9 and Intel® NUC 12 Pro Kit NUC12WSKi7.

Based on the investigation performed, this is a compatibility issue between the Windows driver and the monitor, I recommend you check with Asus to confirm if there are any reports of this behavior.

However, to help you further, please confirm the following:

1. Did you try with a different monitor?

2. does this issue happens with driver version 31.0.101.1999?

1. Did you try with a different monitor?

I haven't tested other monitors yet. My other monitor is 4K 144HZ. It seems that the NUC's HDMI interface cannot support 4K 144HZ.

2. does this issue happens with driver version 31.0.101.1999?

I don't know, haven't tried an older version of the driver, I'm using 31.0.101.4091 now and have had this problem for a long time.

I don't think it's a problem with windows, but a problem with the intel driver. I use amd 6600xt and nvidia 1080ti, 3080 can correctly select 75hz.

By the way, the hdmi interface of AMD 7950x integrated graphics card can also correctly select 75hz

Hi, I've been able to set 75hz correctly with both DisplayPort and USB-C connections on the same monitor, only hdmi is the problem.

Hello number201724,

Thanks for the confirmation. I will try to continue with the investigation related to this frequency issue and to proceed I will need the following:

1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.

2. Take a picture/screenshot from Ubuntu which it shows the 75MHz option.

Hello number201724,

Thanks for your patience. I was reviewing your "moninfo" report as well as the EDID and noticed that the 1920x1080@75 resolution is not listed (see picture). Also, the Linux Fedora operating system is not supported/validated for your Intel® NUC 12 Extreme Kit - NUC12DCMi9, and the settings that you show me may not be accurate since unsupported operating systems may not behave as expected.

I recommend you test a different monitor supporting 1920x1080@75 with a validated operating system and share the outcome.

You can check the supported operating systems for your NUC at the following link:

The difference between systems such as Ubuntu and Fedora is that Fedora has a newer kernel and has newer drivers, and I don't think it makes a difference.

Hello number201724,

We appreciate your response.

We understand that, as per your understanding, using Ubuntu Operating System wouldn't make a difference. However, the Fedora operating system has not been validated to operate on your unit, and as we previously mentioned, the operating system may not behave as expected. For testing, try replicating the issue with a supported operating system such as Ubuntu, as we have validated to work on this specific system.

Hello Jean

Both Ubuntu and Fedora correctly set 75hz, no difference. I used to use Ubuntu, but now I use Fedora.

Isn't it important that both AMD and NVIDIA have no problem, only intel on windows hdmi doesn't recognize 1920x1080 75hz?=

As mentioned before, 1080p 75hz has been read in the EDID output by the Windows MonInfo software

Hello number201724,

Thanks for the information provided.

Checking the Windows MonInfo, we noticed that the Native/preferred resolution timing for this monitor is 1920x1080p at 60Hz (16:9): Native/preferred timing.. 1920x1080p at 60Hz (16:9)

Also, it is important to mention that we reviewed the raw EDID provided by the MonInfo software, and the 1920x1080p at 75Hz is not present as supported.

If you are capable, please try another monitor that supports the 1920x1080p@75Hz resolution natively for testing.

Hello, Jean

I think you are wasting my time. If you don't want to submit to the bug report department then please tell me directly.

First of all, the display supports 75hz 100%, which is clear.

Please explain why the same monitor with the same EDID can be set to 75hz using DP (Thunderbolt) interface. The same device, just a different interface (HDMI->DP).

Why can other graphics cards (AMD, NVIDIA) be set to 75hz when using hdmi, but in the same environment, the linux system can be set to 75hz, only intel can not be set to 75hz through the hdmi cable on windows, other graphics card drivers Is it all wrong? Even intel's dp interface connection is wrong? I don't understand why you're going around in circles here.

Hello number201724,

I am sorry for the inconvenience. I would like to keep with the investigation and to proceed I will need a screenshot of the 75Hz option on a supported operating system.

You can check the supported operating systems for your NUC at the following link:

Once I have this information, I will continue with the process.

Hello, now I use two monitors, one of which is connected with DisplayPort and the other is connected with HDMI. The 75hz is dp, and the 60hz is hdmi. Both monitors are the same model.

Hello number201724,

Thanks for your time. Just to confirm, back on 02/16 I asked you to test with driver version 31.0.101.1999 since version 31.0.101.4091 is a generic driver.

Were you able to test version 31.0.101.1999?
