Hi mirto2317,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue you’re experiencing with the fan speed of Arc A770. To better assist you, I need to gather some additional information. Could you please answer the following questions?

  1. Has this issue occurred before?
  2. Is the fan speed issue occurring only during specific tasks or all the time?
  3. Can you please run the System Support Utility (SSU) and share the logs with me?
  4. How did you perform the last update? Did you use a device manager-clean installation or Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) before updating to the latest graphics driver?

Providing this information will help me diagnose the system more accurately and check for available solutions. Thank you for your cooperation, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Hi Randy.

I had this issue since I bought my GPU. The fans speed stay at around 3600-3700 RPM all of the time. Also yea, i used DDU before installing the newest version of my GPU driver. I've attached the result of the system support utility.

Thanks in advance

 Hi mirto2317,

Please kindly perform the following steps and share your observations with me afterwards. I have attached a guide below that outlines these common steps to address the issue.

  1. Uninstall the Current Arc Control Software: Please begin by uninstalling the existing Arc Control from your system.
  2. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU): To ensure a clean installation of the graphics driver, please use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
  3. Reinstall the Latest Graphics Driver: After using DDU, please download and install the latest graphics driver from the Intel website version 32.0.101.6299Make sure to select the appropriate version for your graphics card and operating system.
  4. Reinstall Arc Control Software: Once the latest graphics driver is successfully installed, you can proceed to reinstall the Arc Control.

Please let me know if these steps work for you.

Hi Randy,

I followed the steps you advised and installed the newest GPU drivers, but unfortunately it seems like it didn't help.

Hi mirto2317,

To assist you better, could you please provide the following information:

  1. Previous Functionality: Was your system working correctly before, and is this issue only occurring now? If it was working before, could you let us know which Arc driver version you were using at that time?
  2. Specific Model: Could you specify the exact model of your GPU?

  1. Fan Speed Adjustment: If you set the "fixed fan target" to 30%, does the fan speed drop below 3700 RPM?
  2. DDU Usage: To ensure a clean installation of the latest driver (version 101.6319), please follow these steps for using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU): How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an...

  • Download DDU from the official Wagnardsoft website.
  • Disconnect from the internet to prevent Windows from automatically downloading drivers.
  • Boot your computer into Safe Mode.
  • Run DDU and select the GPU type and manufacturer.
  • Choose the option to clean and restart.
  • Once your system restarts, install the latest driver version 101.6319 and test again.

Please follow these steps and let us know the results. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to resolving this issue for you.

Hi Randy,

The issue with my GPU began immediately after I installed it into my computer. If I am not mistaken, the first Arc driver I downloaded was version 32.0.101.6127.

My GPU is the A770 8gb phantom gaming .

Whenever I attempt to set the "fixed fan target" to any value, ranging from 0% to 100%, the fans continue to operate at 3700 RPM.

I also followed the steps you recommended for a clean installation of the drivers; however, adjusting the fan speed had no effect.

Hi mirto2317,

Let me forward these findings to our team. It appears that the problem began with the installation of Arc driver version 32.0.101.6127. Despite setting the "fixed fan target" to various values, the fans remain at 3700 RPM. This suggests that the software settings are not being applied correctly to the hardware. There might be an issue with how the Arc Control software communicates with the GPU hardware, preventing the fan speed settings from being applied.

Are you considering testing other driver versions? I came across an article that seems relevant to the issue on your system. Kindly check and let me know if this helps-Can Intel® ARC™ Control Modify the GPU’s Fan Speed in.... I will also double-check with our team if I can recommend previous driver versions prior to the update you made on the graphics driver. Please give me some time to investigate this matter so I can provide you with a resolution.

Hi mirto2317,

I wanted to inform you that there will be upcoming changes to the ARC Control aimed at improving your overall user experience. To facilitate this transition, I kindly ask you to try downloading and installing the following software: Intel® Graphics Software.

You can access the download link here: Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*

Please note that the installer for the Intel® Graphics Software (IGS) is included when you update your drivers to the latest version, so this should simplify the process for you.

Best regards,

Hi randy.
Yea i followed your advice and i used intel's graphic software, but it seems like that manually tweaking the gpu fan speed had no effect and my fans are still running at max speed. I am beginning to suspect that the issue may originate from the hardware.

Hi mirto2317,

Thank you for following the advice and using Intel's graphic software. Since manually tweaking the GPU fan speed had no effect and the fans are still running at max speed, it does seem like the issue might be hardware related.

Can you run a hardware diagnostic scan for the entire system to check all components. This can help us identify any underlying issues. Please let me know the results of the diagnostic scan so we can determine the next steps.

Hi Randy,

After checking pretty much every single component in my computer i came to the conclusion that everything is working just fine, besides the fans of the GPU.... i don't know what else we can try...

Hi mirto2317,

To help us diagnose the issue with your Intel Arc Graphics card, please follow the troubleshooting steps below if feasible and possible on your end:

  1. Swap Test with Same Family Card:
  • Replace your current Arc card (e.g., A770 LE) with another Intel Arc card from the same family (e.g., A750 LE or another A770 LE).
  • Check if the issue persists with the new card.
  1. Firmware Version (Optional):
  • If possible, capture the firmware version of your current card. While this is not required, it can provide additional insights.
  1. Swap Test with Different Arc Card:
  • Replace your current Arc card (e.g., A770 LE) with a different Arc card model (e.g., Acer Bifrost A770).
  • Verify if the issue still occurs with the new card.

Please note that using a graphics card from a different manufacturer does not constitute a valid swap test for this troubleshooting process.

Once you have completed these steps, kindly let us know the results so I can proceed with further assistance.

Hi mirto2317,

Could you please uninstall Arc Control and then install the latest graphics driver version 32.0.101.6332? After that, load the Intel Graphics Software and check if the issue persists.

If the fans continue to run at high speeds, this may indicate a hardware issue. In that case, please check with your place of purchase (POP) or GPU vendor for warranty options.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Hi Randy, unfortunately, as you could guess, it once again did nothing to improve this issue. I should try to get in contact with the vendor for my warranty options. I thank you for your total support over this problem, even if we couldn't figure out a solution.
