really need help plz toshiba A300 satellite laptop

hi i have a toshiba A300 satellite laptop with a 4 series express chipset the thing is that i would like to connect the vga port to a normal day tv iv bought a vga to rca wire the one with the red yellow and white for the tv iv tryed pressing fn/f5 but it doesnt do anything can anybody help me plz
