When playing back audio using the ARC B580 connected via HDMI to my AV receiver, the first few samples are missing - maybe the first 0.3 - 0.5 seconds of playback or so. This happens with system sounds as well as playing back music files, or YouTube, so any audio playback seems affected. If I use the optical output on my motherboard to connect to the same amplifier, this problem does not occur. The audio quality is better over HDMI though, so i'd prefer to use that.
This may have happened since the HDMI firmware update in driver version 32.0.101.6737 which fixed a number of issues I had with uncompressed 10 or 12 bit HDR at 4K over HDMI, but seems to have introduced this audio issue. My motherboard's Realtek ALC4080 also used to do this before I found a firmware update to solve this problem, so hopefully the same can be done for the B580.

Hi, Mode13h.
Thank you for posting in our Community and for your detailed report regarding the audio behavior over HDMI with your Intel® Arc™ B580 graphics card. I sincerely appreciate the thorough context you provided, as it greatly assists my investigation process. It appears the missing audio samples issue surfaced after the HDMI firmware update included in driver version 32.0.101.6737. Given your comparison to similar behavior previously seen with your Realtek ALC4080, it is entirely valid to explore whether a firmware or driver-level optimization could also resolve this current experience. At this stage, I would like to gather additional data. Could you kindly assist by answering the following questions:
- Does the issue occur if you change the default audio format under Sound Settings → Properties → Advanced (e.g., adjusting between 16-bit/24-bit, or 44.1kHz/48kHz sample rates)?
- Have you tested a different HDMI cable or alternate HDMI input ports on your AV receiver to rule out physical layer inconsistencies?
- If you have done any other tests, please let me know the details so we don't cover the same ground twice.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Von M.
