Hello, I've been trying to play some Dead Space on my new rig and I've been getting weird glitches for skin textures in the game. Character faces/enemy skin will turn black or flicker between black and the original color.
It started in the opening scene while I was messing with settings, but I wasn't sure what was causing it, until I noticed earlier today that it was only when switching Shadow Quality to Medium. The glitch would seemingly stop if I closed and reopened the game or if I switched to High or Low settings for Shadow Quality.
There was another post about this issue when using OBS, but I don't use that software and it never seemed to be resolved. Steam did add the recording feature and I have it enabled to save the last 5 minutes of gameplay, but I don't actively record or stream with any other programs.

Game is running at 1920x1080 on a 4K television; Intel SSU info is attached

Just upping this thread as I have the same issue.
Played around with the settings to no avail, black faces and flickering of the skin is present throughout the game but most apparent and easily reproducable in the opening/start of the game.

I have done some additional testing and it seems to be related to the problem with screen recording/the previous post about OBS as the glitch goes away when disabling Steam's recording feature.
Considering this game isn't getting anymore patches and that only Arc cards seem to have the issue, this is something that Intel should look into. More people are going to have this problem due to Steam adding game capture support natively into their launcher, and the solution shouldn't be to make us turn off recording software for only this game and have to restart the game for the issue to go away.

For me the recording is already off and it didn't affect the black skin/flicker issue. What finally removed it was putting the lighting effects to low, so there's still something off with the drivers determining Unreal Engine lighting and effects.

I think Dead Space actually runs on Frostbite, so I'd be interested to see if this issue is in Battlefield 2042 as well (didn't seem to happen on BF1)

Hello Ophys,
Thank you for posting in Intel community Forum.
For me to further check this, please help provide the following details:
- When did you purchase the Arc B580?
- Was it working fine before?
- Are you having the same issue with a different game?
- Are you using an Intel brand Arc B580?
- What is your game launcher?
If you have questions, please let us know. Thank you.
Please create your own thread for us to assist you by gathering your system details.

1. I purchased it on December 19
2. I bought the game after the card, so I don't have any other reference point. Steam recordings have been enabled ever since I installed Steam.
3. No, just Dead Space.
4. I'm using the Sparkle B580, now updated to the latest available driver for it (32.0.101.6256)
5. I'm launching it through Steam (the EA launcher isn't required)

I used the DDU and reinstalled the drivers from the link you sent, but the issue is still there.

And now, ever since using DDU and reinstalling the drivers, the card is having the same issue it had when I bought the **bleep**ing thing and installed the original drivers. DX12 games will run like at 20-22 fps running at 4k even if the game can easily run at that resolution above 60 fps with or without XeSS or FSR, literally at the lowest settings or maxed out, with or without Vsync, when I thought the new drivers fixed the issue. So now I have to spend the rest of my evening seeing if reinstalling the drivers another way will fix it because Intel drivers are terrible and won't just work like Nvidia drivers.

Here you are. (Also, this is after multiple instances of uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers through DDU and the available ones on the Driver website respectively due to another issue.)
I don't think it's related to this issue, but checking on the B580's properties in Device Manager, the Events tab shows that igfxnd doesn't start on Windows boot.

Hey Mike,
The driver update didn't change anything. Here's the SSU log for the current driver.

Hey,
I have been Deadspace playing today and shifting the refresh rate from 120 to 60 removed the black face issue for me.
I'm running a R9 9900X & a Intel B580 LE with all settings on Ultra at 1080P.
The game starts off real bad performance-wise with the intro but I find once your in the Ishimura the fps shoots up but it does appear really inconsistant.
I didnt get the black face issue till I messed with the resolution and refresh so thats when I worked out if you change the refresh it sorts it out.
Hope this helps till they properly fix it up.

Apologies, I didn't mean it needs to be a specific refresh, just changing it in game while you have the black face issue takes it away, I guess its just easier than rebooting the whole game but if you have no other refresh rate options it's a moot point anyway.
