Destiny2 freezes with 32.0.101.6647 (Arc 770)

After updating to 32.0.101.6647, Destiny2 (Steam) freezes. The image is completely static and sound loops in a sub-second snippet. The game does not recover, the only way to unfreeze is "End Task"  in Windows task manger.

I did not have any problems before the driver update.

Hi, pyromaniac2k.

Thank you for posting in our Community. Could you please let me know if the freezing issue occurs consistently every time you play Destiny 2, or if it's intermittent? If possible, it would be helpful if you could share a video recording that captures the issue. When updating to the 32.0.101.6647 driver, did you perform a clean installation by using DDU to remove the previous driver and then reinstall the new version? Leftover driver files can sometimes cause issues. Also, are there any error messages or warnings shown in Destiny 2 or system logs that could help identify the cause of the freezing? If the issue is intermittent, can you identify any patterns, such as specific actions or areas in the game where the freezing occurs?

Additionally, I'd like to delve deeper and verify specifics like the precise driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable us to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue. To ensure your privacy and security, I recommend not sharing the Intel SSU logs on public forums, as they contain sensitive information about your system. Instead, please send the SSU logs to me via email. Once I receive the logs, I'll be able to further investigate the issue and assist you more effectively. After that, we can continue our communication in the community forum if needed.

Have a nice day!

Sure. I did not run DDU explicitly, but I checked "clean install" in the installer menu, both during the update and the downgrade to 101.6559. But the good news is that with 6559 all freezes are gone.

Destiny 2 does not display any warnings, messages or logs. The freeze usually happens between 20 and 60 Minutes after starting the game and mostly when accessing the ingame menu (Same as @6ZeroGravity9 described)

After downgrading the driver again, I cannot currently get a video for you, but it should be easy to reproduce with the free-to-play parts of Destiny on Steam.

I do have an SSU log, but I did not see an email on your profile page.

Same here. Happens a lot of the time. The Destiny UI will freeze — usually when I’m accessing an in-game menu — and I have to end the task in Task Manager as well.

Hello, pyromaniac2k.

I'm pleased to hear that reverting to driver version 101.6559 has resolved the freezing issue. Regarding the Destiny 2 freezes, I appreciate the details you've shared. If the issue recurs or if you're able to capture a video later, it would greatly assist our investigation.

For the SSU log, please note that I have sent you an email. Kindly check your email inbox, including the spam folder. You can attach the log directly in your reply, or let us know if you need an alternative way to send it.

Hello, pyromaniac2k.

I appreciate your patience. I attempted to replicate the issue on my end using driver version 32.0.101.6647 on our A770 system but was unable to encounter the same problem. Could you please confirm if the issue occurs when pressing "F1" to access menus such as Clan, Collections, Journey, Character, Inventory, or the in-game menu that includes Store, Season Pass, Quests, Map, and Destination? If the issue is unrelated to these, I’d appreciate it if you could provide the exact steps to reproduce the problem.

Additionally, could you share your in-game settings with us? This will help us accurately replicate the conditions and investigate further.

Hello Von,

it can happen in both the Character (F1) and the Maps/Quest (M) Menu. It can even happen without accessing the Menu at all, but commonly it happens on one of the menus. Sadly, I don't have a deterministic reproduction strategy, but generally it freezes between 20 and 40 Minutes playtime.

My settings are "Windowed Fullscreen" at 2560x1440 (native screen resolution), VSync off, and all quality settings at maximum.

Hello there,

(first of all, english is not my first language, so please escuse any syntax or grammatical errors)

I have this issue since the 6647 update, and the recent 6651 too.
It can happen randomly when i'm opening the character menu where i can change my equipement. Sometimes it can happen in the first time, sometimes after several times.
No issue in the gameplay itself, the freeze happen when i'm opening a menu, The game freeze but the sounds are still playing.

I've rolled back to version 6559 and the issue is completly gone, it's a temporary solution, tho not a good one on the long term.

Best regards,
Romain.

Hello, pyromaniac2k.

Thank you for sharing the details. Since the issue seems to occur frequently when opening the Character (F1) or Maps/Quest (M) Menu, but it can also happen during regular gameplay. I’d like to dig deeper and try to replicate it on my end. I'll be looking into this further and will update you here as soon as I have more insights.

Thanks again for your time, and I’ll keep you posted.

@RomainFR , I completely understand the frustration you're experiencing with this issue. To ensure we can fully focus on your specific case and provide the best possible assistance, I kindly ask that you start a new thread. This will help us address your concerns more effectively.
