Driver issues(Xe Graphi & A770)

你好,

        我遇到的问题是在Intel ARC Control 中显示的是集成显卡版本号,而不是独显驱动版本号。

-The problem I'm having is that the integrated graphics version number is displayed in Intel ARC Control, not the GPU version number.

Evan_Hou_0-1725737474334.png

如果不禁用核显驱动直接使用独显会使Windows系统与独立显卡卡顿,无法正常关机。

-If you do not disable the GPU driver, using the GPU directly will cause the Windows system and the discrete graphics card to freeze and fail to shut down normally.

Evan_Hou_2-1725737694770.png

还有一个问题,当你暂时没有使用独立显卡时

-There's also the problem when you're not using a discrete graphics card for a while

Evan_Hou_3-1725737793295.png

下次使用独立显卡它的config会 reset config.

-The next time you use a discrete graphics card, it's going to be reset profile settings.

Hello Evan_Hou,

Thank you for posting at Intel Community Forum.

Upon checking the driver version of your Integrated graphics and discrete graphics, it seems that both drivers are outdated. I have a few recommendations for you.

1. Use DDU to uninstall the Intel® Graphics Driver - How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver

2. Download the latest driver here - Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*

With regards to the freezing issue when using the GPU directly, please share more details about it so I can investigate further.

1. Was this working fine before?

2. Did you make any recent changes to the system?

3. Which graphics are you using as your display?

4. Are performing specific tasks when the freezing happens?

I hope to hear from you soon!

Best regards,

Jed G.

Hello JedG_Intel

I haven't modified the system, it's newly installed.

I'm working fine in the return windows 10 driver.

But update windows, Use Windows11 Intel Controller show:

Hi Evan_Hou,

Thank you for sharing information.

I would just like to confirm if the issue with Arc control persists after updating the drivers and using DDU? As I've checked the first 3 screenshots that you sent, it seems that the Arc control is now showing the correct driver version, could you confirm if this is with Windows 10?

Also, I can only support in English so please translate the screenshot of the error that you are seeing on Intel Controller via Windows 11.

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I'll be waiting for your response. Have a good one!

Hi Dear JedG_Intel,

Yes, I have now updated to Windows 11. Now everything works fine with the driver. In addition to the following questions (Resizable BAR).

Evan_Hou_0-1726211312024.png

    translated text:

Make sure the system/motherboard firmware (BIOS) supports resizable BAR or has been updated to enable resizable BAR for      optimal performance in all applications using Intel Arc A-series graphics. For more information, contact your system or motherboard manufacturer.

    Only Windows 11 appeared.

I'm glad to hear that everything is working well with the driver after updating to Windows 11! As for Resizable BAR, it's a feature that allows the CPU to access the entire GPU memory instead of being limited to a portion of it. This can potentially improve performance in certain games and applications, particularly those that are GPU-intensive.

If you're wondering about enabling Resizable BAR, make sure your motherboard, CPU, and GPU all support it. You’ll also need to enable it in the BIOS/UEFI settings, and you may need to update your GPU drivers and motherboard firmware to the latest versions for optimal compatibility.

If you have specific questions about Resizable BAR or need help with enabling it, feel free to ask!

Hi Dear JedG_Intel,

    issue 1:

The previous problem I found was that the power supply was not satisfied. I replaced the 650W power supply.

I found that A770 has better support for Windows 10. It would be great if you could help me look at the Enable/Disabled issue with Resizable BAR in Windows.

Thks,

Evan.

Hello Evan_Hou,

Thank you and I appreciate your effort in providing me all these information.

Let's first address the error message that you are seeing with Resizable BAR, this error message shows up when

the device needs a firmware update or if the device lacks firmware for Resizable BAR. I recommend contacting your OEM about this. You may also check out this link

For the issue with Arc control showing the incorrect driver version, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it after the installation of latest driver?

I hope that you find this helpful.

Thank you so much!

Hi Dear JedG_Intel,

Q1: For the issue with Arc control showing the incorrect driver version, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it after the installation of latest driver?

A1: I uninstalled the graphics driver using the tool you recommended, but it uninstalls the GPU along with the discrete graphics driver. However, when I install the ARC driver, I will install the Iris driver as well, and the ARC driver version will be overwritten after the next Iris driver update.

Q2: Let's first address the error message that you are seeing with Resizable BAR, this error message shows up when?

A2: The PC I'm using is the same, the only difference is the Windows version, only Windows10 Resizable BAR is enabled by default. And there was no notice.

Here's a comparison of the two systems:

   L: Windows 10       R: Windows 11

Evan_Hou_0-1726651497702.pngEvan_Hou_1-1726651600514.png

I'm guessing these issues are related to System Driver? After all, both the core graphics card and the discrete graphics card are Intel. The most prominent thing is the version number displayed in the control panel.

Thks,

Evan.

Hello Evan_Hou,

I received an update from our team and we would like to gather more information. Please share with us the details below.

1. Are you using an All-In-One computer or laptop? Based on the SSU logs, it seems that it is a laptop

2. If you are using a laptop, how are you connecting the Arc A770 to the computer?

Additionally, you may follow the steps on the troubleshooting links provided below:

I'll be waiting for your response.

Hi Dear JedG_Intel,

Yes, what you're looking at is indeed a laptop.

Intel® Arc™ Control Software Shows Resizable BAR as “General-Not-Supported”

I have the same issue as it. But he only provided AMD workarounds, I tried a few times according to AMD's methods and the problem is still there.

Evan_Hou_1-1727429420801.png

I used the method of external graphics card connection, the computer has Thunderbolt 4, but the main controller of the graphics card is Intel JHL7540 it only supports Thunderbolt 3 Bridge.

I think you'll need my system information, so put it in the attachment.

Still receiving your reply, really appreciated.

Thks,

Evan.

Hello Evan_Hou,

I have more information to share with you. Please be advised that the Arc Alchemist graphics card was designed for desktop applications and not intended for eGPU configurations. For optimizing the performance of Intel Arc, you should follow the Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics – Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics – Desktop Quick Start Guide.

This is likely the reason for the issues you are experiencing. Additionally, the error regarding Resizable BAR being unsupported is because your laptop does not support this feature.

I hope that you find this information helpful.

Hi Dear JedG_Intel,

I looked at your solution and it didn't solve my problem, I can only use Windows 10 to solve the problem temporarily.

Thks,

Evan.

Hello Evan_Hou,

Thank you for the update.

I would like to make some clarifications based on the information that you provided. Please see below:

1. You said that the only workaround that worked was using Windows 10, are you referring to the problem with the unsupported Resizable BAR and incorrect driver versions being detected?

2. Have you contacted your OEM to confirm if the Resizable BAR is compatible with your device?

I'll be waiting for your response!
