Graphics Artifacts in Iron Harvest on A770 LE 16GB

Playing on an older build that has previously had nvidia GPUs in it with no issues (1070, 1080ti).

Iron Harvest, which is on DX12, has graphics artifacts with any smoke/steam/fire effects. I've attached a screen grab that shows them, underneath the mech. These show up for any of the aforementioned effects,  but the colour can vary. I know other games have had a similar issue.

Gameplay is otherwise unaffected. Running at QHD resolution with everything maxed it runs great. I do hear pretty bad coil whine, unfortunately limiting FPS to 60 only helps a little.

Hello NedDarb,

Thank you for posting in the Intel communities. We are more than glad to help you with the artifacts issue when playing Iron Harvest.

Since you mentioned that your system had a graphics card from Nvidia, we would like to recommend running the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) software. This software is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall graphics card drivers and packages from your system, trying to remove all leftovers. For more information, you can check our article "How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver."

In case the issue persists, and to better understand your issue, provide us with the following:

  • Does the issue improve if you lower the graphics settings?
  • Does the issue persist when rolling back to previous driver versions?
  • Provides us with a screenshot of the graphics settings you use.
  • What is the game distribution service? ( Blizzard, Epic, Origin, Steam, Xbox, Ubisoft connect)
  • Create a report using the following tools:
  •  Intel System Support Utility (Intel SSU)
    • Download the Intel SSU
    • Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel SSU will take you to the "Summary View."
    • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
    • To save your scan: click on "Next"; then "Save."
  • Intel® Graphics Command Center:
    • Open the Intel Graphics Command Center
    • Navigate to the Support tab
    • Select System Diagnostic
    • Click Generate Report
    • Select Save and name the output file.

DDU was ran prior to installing the card, and each update since I've done clean install when the option was available. Shouldn't be anything left behind at this point.

Answers to your questions, in order:

  • No, and have tried them all
  • No, tested with 4146 and 4091
  • See attached
  • Steam
  • What system details would you like to know that the SSU report pulls?
  • Is there another way to download the graphics command centre than the MS store?

Hello NedDarb,

Thanks for the information provided.

About the graphics command center installation process, the only option is to install it through the Microsoft Store*. However, the report is not necessary as the information we needed from the report is available on the Tech Power Up screenshot you shared.

Regarding the system SSU, we are looking to gather system information such as CPU, MOBO model, BIOS version, and Operating System Build. However, sometimes the report will contain further information about the system that will help us investigate your issue, such as a reference for possible system bugchecks. The complete SSU report will help us to better assist you with your issue.

Best regards,

Sorry for the wait, was out of town for work.

The SSU detail report is attached. I'll be updating drivers today and will check Iron Harvest to see if the update changed anything.

Hello NedDarb,

Thanks for your response.

Updating your graphics driver would be ideal since the new driver version just released, Production 31.0.101.4314, and BETA 31.0.101.4335. We will be waiting for your response to confirm the outcome of trying our latest driver.

Best regards,

Tested this game, and a good chunk of my library, with the 4369 driver. I'm now seeing the flashing rectangles @JohnA770 was experiencing.

Hi!

Same card, same game, same smoke artifact. And rarely flashing rectangles when moving the camera.

Windows 11, relativelly fresh install, there were no other VGA card before. The game from GOG, native install (not gog galaxy). Driver is up to date.

Sincerely: John
