Hello ReBrain
Thank you for posting on the Intel® ARC™ Graphics Communities. I am sorry you are experiencing high-temperature issues with your Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics.
The temperature that can still be considered under parameters will be 90C, in this case, 100C can be considered as overheating. I would like to get more information about this issue in order to assist you, please let us know the following:
- Share a screenshot of the Intel ARC Overlay so we can check the temperatures and load of the GPU.
- Check if fans are spinning over 1200RPM when the GPU reaches the 100C temperature.
- Does the issue happen with any game?
- Create a log file with the Intel® System Support Utility and attach it to your response.
Best Regards,
Hugo O.

Hello ReBrain
Thank you for letting us know. As long as the GPU is working at 90C and below this can be considered within parameters, we will monitor this thread so you can continue testing your system to make sure the graphics card continues to work fine.
Thank you as well for the feedback related to the Fan Control feature in Intel® Arc™ Software, this feature has not been officially released and this is why it gets disabled automatically, however, we are working to release it soon.
Best Regards,
Hugo O.

(Do it your self)

The Arc's heat dissipation and cooler is a bit under-designed.
I applied liquid metal to the die (chip), around the die grizzly thermal shield, for protection if the liquid metal should run over it
(LM = electrically conductive caution), which has not happened yet. I got rid of the VRAM modeling clay (original (thermal pads), ordered 8x 15x20 mm, 2 MM thick copper for Ram coolers from Aliexpress.com, plus 0.5 MM Regett blue very thin thermal pads.
Oh, and you still need a good thermally conductive adhesive for this.
GPU is now always at a maximum of 60-80 degrees Celsius.
VRAM after conversion to
impressive 40 Celsius degrees.
Oh yes, and I almost covered the entire PCB with 2 millimeter thermal pads. The original star screws aren't that great either, I removed them all and exchanged them for Imbus hex screws and rebuilt them
Just order everything from Aliexpress, simply rebuild your graphics card yourself.
(Do it your self)
To open the card, you only have to pull off the cover. A suction cup with negative pressure for glass works best. It is glued extremely well.
If the glue gives a little, pry the lid open with ru I used a round steel bread knife.
You can then easily access the screws.
Then loosen all the screws, when opening the PCB and the cooler please be careful not to rip out the cooler!
It's best to watch this video beforehand!

The Intel Arc has potential but unfortunately also problems, as a consumer I want to buy a product and use it and not work as a tester. I sent the card back, the triggering reason was the purchased game Dead Space Remake, I've never experienced anything like that, my friend with an AMD card ran the game. I spent two hours troubleshooting, updating drivers and so on...:-( Then there also seem to be errors in production and manufacture, otherwise you wouldn't have to go to such lengths to get the temperature under control. In the end I decided to buy an AMD card, too bad the ARC has a good price-performance ratio. Dear Intel team, if you manage to get the ARC ready for the market, then send me one and I'll test it.

Hello ReBrain
Thank you for letting us know and we apologize that the GPU did not work as expected from the start. We appreciate your feedback and we will continue to improve our Intel® Arc™ GPUs.
Since the GPU is no longer available for troubleshooting we will be closing this thread. Feel free to open a new topic if you need further assistance with Intel products
