Re:Intel Arc 770M and HDR / and 240Hz over HDMI

My TV supports HDR and 1080p 240Hz but there's no way for me to activate it.

With the current version (august 2023) of the Graphics Command Center, there's no way to create custom resolutions. It's a Sony XF9005. It's been purposefully removed by Intel.

The Beta lets you add a custom resolution but not the framerate.

I tried other third party software but couldn't find a working solution.

Edit : With CRU + the beta GCC, I was able to select the 120Hz.

On the other hand, the HDR should on the other hand, be working out of the box, and is still now available.

I have no issues with other PC, as it works fine with AMD/Nvidia GPUs.

I am sorry to hear that you have problems with HDR and the refresh rate.

In order to have more information about your system, please download, install and run Intel® System Support Utility for Windows. Make sure you check “Everything” before you scan, then save the report and attach it to your response.

Then, please generate and attach the Report for Intel® Intel Graphics Command Center

I was able to get HDR working but I'm locked at 30 FPS and I get tons of dropped frames on youtube.

With my nvidia GPU (on a gaming laptop), indeed no issues at 60Hz.

· Was it working before with the same Intel(R) Arc(TM) A770M Graphics?

· What cable are you using?

· Are you using a dock station or a straight connection?

Thanks for answering, I'm glad to hear from you.

-> No, I never got it working 60Hz + HDR. I tried to fiddle around but while I managed to fix the 120Hz, it's still not working for the HDR.

· What cable are you using?

-> HDMI 2.0 Cable in an HDMI 2.0 TV input. Same cable, same input, works, HDR 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 with the Nvidia card.

· Are you using a dock station or a straight connection?

-> Straight connection.

Would you be interested into me making you video to show my setup and what happens when I make changes ?

Hello, thanks for asking an answer.
So I started filming. And I realised, that while 4K HDR 60 was working with the other gaming laptop... I was getting dropframes too. Like I do with 30Hz HDR on the Intel NUC.

Turns out that I had not well configured the TV :

To give you some context ; previously I used this TV for months in 4K HDR without issues.
I moved it to another place, and by wiring it to my box, I got a FW update.
Turns out that this update either added this option or turned it off.

Since I had briefly checked that 4K HDR 60Hz was working with my gaming PC, I did not realised there was drop frames.

Seeing that it wasn't working like before on the laptop made me sure that the issue was TV side, and I quickly found the problem.
After changing this option on the TV, I was able to get the same video outputs as the Nvidia GPU.

Soooo, false alarm. It was the TV's configuration that was at fault. The HDMI video input in terms of gbit, was crippled.

I'm very happy it's fixed !
