Intel Arc A770 16GB - Stuttering Issue whilst gaming on multiple titles

Hi all, I am experiencing screen stuttering issues whilst gaming on multiple titles. MW2, Total War: Vermintite, Halo Infinite, Battlefield 1 and Overwatch 2 for example.

Equipment:

  • MSI Tomawak B660 motherboard
  • intel 12700k chip
  • Monitor - LG Ultragear 144Hz 1080p
  • Kingston 16GB of DDR4 Ram 3600 MHz.
  • nvme samsung 980 pro ssd.

Things I have tried:

  • The issue is occuring in DX9, DX11 and DX12 titles
  • Enabling ReBar
  • V-sync off and on.
  • Using latest drivers from Intel.
  • Lowering graphics settings.

I have high frame rates, especially on low graphical settings, but then suddenly there is a drop in frames and produces screen tearing and stuttering.

Can anyone think of any other solutions to eliminate or mitigate stuttering?

Hi @Jordan6

I appreciate the information and details. In this case, I want you to please try a couple of things based on the information and reports provided:

  • Update your BIOS, in case you need help with this step, please contact the motherboard manufacturer for a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
  • If the previous step did not improve the performance please uninstall the previous integrated graphics drivers.

Hello @Jordan6

Thank you for your post and information. In order to continue I want to know a couple of things:

  • Is this the first graphics card you installed on this computer?
  • What launcher are you using?
  • Have you checked if the games are on their latest version?
  • Are you using any adapters or just a straight cable to the monitor?

Hi Carlos,

  1. Yes this is the first graphics card I've installed. I was previously using integrated graphics with the intel chip.
  2. By launcher do you refer to the OS? I'm using Windows 11. If it's the game launcher, I'm using Steam and Battle.net.
  3. The games are on the latest version.
  4. I'm using a DP cable directly from the graphics card to the monitor.

Thanks for your support and kind regards,

Jordan

Hi Carlos,

I don't feel comfortable updating the BIOS, I dont particularly like the risks involved in the process. But I have uninstalled the integrated graphics and the stuttering has disappeared for now!

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Jordan

Sorry to interrupt, but Microsoft just fixed a bug that caused stuttering:

It may be related to your issue.
