I was wondering if there is a fix or something that can be done to the drivers for Forza Horizon 3?
It crashes at start-up. Two related windows event log entries. I have an Intel NUC 12 enthusiast just purchased last week, with Arc a770m card.
Forza Horizon 4 and 5 work without issues.
Driver: 31.0.101.5333 (latest WHQL from Intel)
Application Name: Forza Horizon 3
Store: Windows Store (installed via the Xbox Application on Windows)
SSU Report: Attached to this post
Steps to produce the error: Just launch the game, initial loading screen shows up, and then about 5 sec later it crashes

I've also added to a post on Forza Forums, about support for Intel Graphics cards (Iris, but I mentioned the Arc a770m as well)

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue.
I wish I had better news for you, but unfortunately we no longer actively support Legacy Forza titles.
Limited support is available for matchmaking and leaderboard services; however, access to this functionality is not always guaranteed.
Players who already purchased these items should still be able to download and play them.
We are not able to give out codes for these games or any DLC.
While I appreciate you taking the time out today to write in to Forza Support, we are sadly unable to resolve this request.
If you have more questions on this please reach out to Xbox/Windows support.

Testing some other older games I have in Steam as well. For my Arc a770m in the Intel Nuc 12 Enthusiast (I have 32gb ram, 1tb m.2 drive)
Games that work
- Need for speed most wanted
- Need for Speed Rivals
- Need for Speed: undercover
- Need for Speed (2016 version - developed by Ghost)
- Gird 2
- Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered
- Need for Speed: Unbound
Games that crash (Seems like these are all directx 9 / 9.0c games)
- Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box Edition (gets up to the bit where it creates a license for you as a new player, freezes / crashes, on low and medium settings. On high settings crashes just after you choose Enter Playground / Enter Paradise)
- Need for speed: Shift 2 Unleashed (crashes at start, can't open)
- Need for speed: Shift (crashes at start, can't open)
- Need for speed: Hot Pursuit (crashes part way through a race)
Edit: So I see that EA games has sales on at the moment, so I've just purchased the "Remastered" versions of Hot Pursuit and Burnout Paradise - downloading now, these Support DirectX 11 - so hopefully that fixes up those games. Other games are on sale at some cheap prices as well, so I grabbed a few other NFS racing games
Edit: Unfortunately the Remastered version of Burnout Paradise also crashes, slightly earlier, when playing the introduction video. Made up a separate post for this.
Need for Speed: Hotpursuit Remastered seems to work fine however.

ok, so for Burnout Paradise Remastered - I figured out it was the HDR / Auto HDR in Windows 11 that was causing the crash.
If I turn it off, the game loads fine. So there's a tip for anyone.
You can turn off Auto HDR per game in Display -> Graphics -> Select the Game as a work around to keep it on generally.

I've made an Application Crash Dump for Forza Horizon 3 and uploaded it to Google Drive. I zipped it up as it was 1gb, to around 250mb for someone at Intel to hopefully look at this and work out how to fix the crash.

I have the same system and the same GPU and I've had this exact problem too. I've tried various settings and drivers but nothing has worked. When I was investigating it initially (about 6 months ago) it seemed like it was some kind of permissions issue. I'd love to see this sorted out.
