Intel Arc flashes when connected via DP to LG GN850N 144hz monitor

Good day.

I am having some trouble with my rather new Intel Arc A770 Phantom Gaming when connected in 144hz mode to my LG GN850N monitor.

An issue occurs most times I turn my pc on (not always) in which there are horizontal segments of the monitor that are flashing constantly throughout the whole session. The rest of the monitor seems to also flicker slightly (more noticeable in games). I don't need to be in games for this to occur. Also very weird and similar to this post where we have the same monitor (https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-ARC-Graphics/Gpu-doesnt-work-on-144hz/m-p/1474937), the monitor notifies me that it is working at 72hz. I have noticed this frequency sometimes changes to 144hz and then goes right back to the 72hz. Similarly to this post, if I setup my PC to work on 120hz, it works flawlessly.

There are times when I turn on the PC where the whole session is perfect. I also frequently turn another PC on with the same DP cable on the monitor's same DP port and this error has never occurred. This other PC uses an Nvidia GTX 1080 and it also runs at 144fps. I have also tried other Intel Arc DP ports with no success.

Thank you for the time and support.

Hi Rowenza,

Thank you for posting to the community.

To further investigate this situation can you share some information by answer my inquiries.

  1. Could you please provide a video of your monitor displaying the horizontal segments?
  2. Could you also show a video of the refresh rate changing from 144Hz to 72Hz, and another video showing the 120Hz refresh rate working correctly?
  3. Does the issue persist when using the GTX 1080?
  4. Have you tried using an HDMI cable?
  5. Have you tried using a different monitor?
  6. Did the issue start after a Windows update or a driver update?
  7. What driver version are you currently using?

Also, to better understand your entire system information, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This will generate a text file that compiles all your system information. You can follow this link for instructions and send the text file here. How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows. I am looking forward hearing from you.
