Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 framerate issues

This is a continuation of this thread, as I was previously advised to create a new thread after trying various listed troubleshooting steps, if neither of those steps worked as intended.

I've now followed each and one of the suggested troubleshooting steps for running older PC games on Intel HD/UHD Graphics. Sadly the framerate issue is still present in THPS4 on both of my Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition GPUs.

Hi again.

I have now successfully done a Clean Installation of the Intel Arc Graphic Driver on this PC, by selecting Clean Installation (that was a bit hidden in the installation setup menu) of the Intel Arc Graphic Driver Setup file that I downloaded. This is the very same Graphic Driver that I used before, Intel Graphic Driver 32.0.101.6262 for Windows 11.

No improvement of the framerate in THPS4 as of yet. Looks like I'm running out of options when it comes to running this games with a smooth framerate as of now. The B580 is a rather new GPU as well, so there might be no known workarounds for this game to get a smooth framerate on an Intel Arc GPU as far as I know, at least not on pcgamingwiki.com for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. To be frank, I might as well be one of very few (if any other) people that have actually tested this game on an Intel Arc GPU as of today.

I did previously have a custom profile in the Intel Graphic Software for THPS4, but I deleted that now before trying out THPS4 once more (still the same framerate issues), because it served no real purpose at all (I was not able to fix the framerate with custom settings for this game, like with the Unreal Engine 1 games).

A little bit of a late reply from me, but attached are my settings for THPS4.

The file config.txt attached was originally named config.cfg; I just made a copy of config.cfg and renamed it config.txt to attach it to this topic. The config.cfg file is to be found inside the THPS4 > Game folder.

I use some very old iso files that I have, but you would have to use a nocd crack as well to make it run. There's a provided nocd crack at http://thps-mods.com/cracks.php for THPS4. I suppose archive.org can provide useful links for testing purposes for this game, as THPS4 is no longer sold at retail or at any digital distribution platforms.

What I need to do right now is to find and obtain the game legally, and that can be shared across the team (Triage, debug development) in order to see this through.

I did spot a used copy of the PC version of THPS4 on ebay some days ago after doing a quick search on the web. In legal terms, isn't a used copy of THPS4 good enough?

Even though THPS4 is the only game I've had issues with as of now on my Intel Arc B580 GPUs, my thoughts was that there also might exist other older (maybe obscure) PC games from the early 2000s that have the very same framerate issue as THPS4 on Intel Arc GPUs have. In that way, once this bug in THPS4 is dealt with in a potential driver update, other games with the very same issue might also be fixed as well.

However, for those in the know, there has been leaks of an upcoming THPS 3+4 remaster just recently, with a trailer or something like that going to surface on March 4th. Once a potential THPS 3+4 gets released and it has the same quality as the THPS 1+2 remaster, I would most likely not touch the original THPS4 again.

In the long run however, even though some use cases only affects a tiny minority of the userbase of the Intel Arc GPUs, being able to run everything the competitor GPUs can run of older games might be beneficial.

I fully understand that having a stable experience of the broadest set of users is way more important when gaining marked shares in the GPU space.
