Access to 8MP camera from Ubuntu

Hello

I have tried the application that is mentioned in /thread/129078 https://communities.intel.com/thread/129078 and indeed it is too dark. Is there a repository where we can find the source of the Ubuntu driver so that while waiting an official release correcting the problem one can try to recompile the driver for this camera and try other settings of the camera? Or is there an application that allow to have access to the configuration of the camera?

Best regards

Laurent

Hello Casandra

The link you mentionned is the link that is given in the reference cited in my original posting. I have use the sample appliactions and indeed I was able to check that the image quality of the 8MP camera is bad: extremely dark images. This is a know problem and that a solution might be provided in some future. However we are planing to use the aero board and the vision kit for the need of a project. We need to know very soon if we can rely of this setup. As the camera is communicating, it seems that the problem lies in the configuration parameters sent by the driver to the camera. Thus our question is to know if the code of the driver is available or if there is a configuration tool that connects to the camera and allow to change the configuration parameters. This shall allow us to experiment and to find an suitable set of parameters to configure the camera, for instance controlling the exposure time. For the time being the OV8858 camera is useless.

I hope i have better explained our problem.

Best regards

Laurent
