Can I have in the Intel Aero both a Realsense camera and a Movidius using a mini usb splitter?

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I have an idea where I want to have an Intel Aero Drone equipped with a Realsense kit plus a Movidus neural compute stick.

Is this doable will the power be sufficient ? I see from the specs that there is one USB port so I was thinking perhaps using a mini usb splitter ?

Also with the Realsense how much is the impact on the flying time duration ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi codergr,

Thank you for your interest in the Intel Aero drone.

Could you please give me more details about what you are trying to accomplish?

What do you mean by Realsense kit? Are you talking about this kit, which is already included in the drone?

Are you trying to add an additional camera?

If you just want to install a Movidius stick, you need an USB2-OTG cable. You can find more information here https://github.com/intel-aero/meta-intel-aero/wiki/07-Movidius-Neural-Compute-Stick 07 Movidius Neural Compute Stick · intel-aero/meta-intel-aero Wiki · GitHub

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for your quick and prompt reply.

I am interested to have the new D435 and want to build a future proof solution supporting future updates of the Intel® RealSense™ SDK 2.0 SDK .

As per https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense GitHub repo of RealSense SDK unfortunately R200 is not supported with the new SDK so I am looking for alternatives.

Best regards

Hi codergr,

The D435 camera requires its own USB port, no spliters.

Also, the supply voltage is 5 V.
