FPGA on Aero

Hi. I am an amateur drone enthusiast and working on a research project using the Aero Intel drone. I recently found out that the drone has an FPGA processor on it. Few specific questions regarding the processor structure of this drone:

1) Which processor is FPGA emulating?

2) Where does the flight controller run on (which processor)?

3) Our GPS module was not working on QGroundControl so we found online that we had to flash the FPGA. Our GPS now works; any explanation as to how the flashing affected the GPS?

4) How is the Atom x7 processor and FPGA linked?

Thanks!

Hello soph_thor,

Thank you for your interest in the Intel Aero Compute Board.

To get started, I think the following Hardware guide will help you understand the FPGA and Atom processor features, you can find the guide on the following link:

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/drones/development-drones/intel-aero-compu...

The following link can also give you an overview on the Intel Aero Compute Board: https://github.com/intel-aero/meta-intel-aero/wiki/01-About-Intel-Aero

I hope you find this helpful.
