Input voltage range of power connector

Hello,

What is the input voltage range for the power connector on the Intel Compute board? I have seen three different documented values:

1. 5V only (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/aero/intel-aero-compute-boar... https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/aero/intel-aero-compute-boar..., section 3.6.1)

2. 5V-12V (Intel® Aero Compute Board Hardware Features and Usage v.1)

3. 5V-20V ( )

We would like to plug the battery directly into this power connector but a fully charged 3 cell battery is 12.6V, so this will only be possible if the third document is correct. On the Intel Aero RTF drone (which we are not using), there is a power module so the battery is not plugged in to the Intel Compute directly.

Thank you for your interest in the Intel® Aero Compute Board.

 

 

As stated here https://github.com/intel-aero/meta-intel-aero/wiki/01-About-Intel-Aero, the recommended power adapter specifications are:
  • 5V DC
  • 3A (15 W) minimum
I think the confusion regarding the +5V to +20V range has to do with the fact that those values are associated with powering the Aero Compute Board directly from the drone's power distribution board.

 

 

The latest version of the Intel® Aero Compute Board – Hardware Features and Usage ( https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/aero/intel-aero-compute-boar...) also mentions the 5V as the recommended voltage input.
