RTF simulation in ROS Gazebo

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am trying to simulate the RTF drone in Gazebo with ROS. I know there is still no model for the drone, but I'd like to perform simulations with a generic drone model and the R200 camera. How can I perform a simulation with the most approximated drone model to the RTF in Gazebo?

Thanks.

André Castro.

Hi André,

Thank you for your interest in the Intel Aero Platform. I have not tried Gazebo simulator myself but I would recommend for you to find a drone model with the Aero RTF Drone specifications listed in the following link under Details -> "Other Specifications." Some details from the page include weight, dimensions, propeller length, etc.

Hope this helps!

Jesus

Hi, Jesus,

thanks for the reply. I was reading http://https//communities.intel.com/thread/120508 this other thread and that guy was trying something similar. I adapted one of the ROS http://wiki.ros.org/hector_quadrotor/ packages to load a drone model with the R200 camera. Since you send me all the drone specifications, I'll try to create a drone model very similar to it. Thanks!

Hi Andre,

Could you make the drone model you created available on github (or elsewhere)? I would really appreciate it.

Best regards,

Bence

Hey, chillax .

I´m sorry for the late reply. I tried to create a model as similar as to the RTF, but at the end, I just adapted an existing one.

Install the following to get the R200 model.

https://github.com/IntelRealSense/realsense_samples_ros/tree/kinetic-devel/realsense_ros_camera https://github.com/IntelRealSense/realsense_samples_ros/tree/kinetic-devel/realsense_ros_camera

In the next link, you can find the drone model with the attached R200. https://github.com/Andreluizfc/quadrotor_r200_gazeebo GitHub - Andreluizfc/quadrotor_r200_gazeebo: Gazeebo models for quadrotor with R200 camera

Hope it helps! Best of luck,

André Castro.

Hi Andreluizfc Does your model include a launch file for executing it on gazebo??

Hi,

I ended up not using a simulation, so the files I have are incomplete. You need to adapt many things.

You can find https://github.com/tu-darmstadt-ros-pkg/hector_quadrotor/blob/kinetic-devel/hector_quadrotor_gazebo/... here a simple launch file using a generic camera. I recommend reading the http://wiki.ros.org/urdf/Tutorials urdf/Tutorials - ROS Wiki also.

Cheers,

André Castro.
