Vision Accessory Kit Camera question

Dear *,

i see that the Vision Accessory Kit (https://software.intel.com/en-us/aero/vision-kit Vision Accessory Kit | Intel® Aero Platform for UAVs | Intel® Software ) contains two MIPI Camera modules. 8MP RGB Camera (OV8858) and VGA Camera(OV7251).

Does those two cameras connect direct to the Intel Aero Board via MIPI ?

I also saw that the Intel Aero Board (https://software.intel.com/en-us/aero/dev-kit Compute Board for Intel®Aero | Intel® Software ) is running on Linux* 4.4.3-yocto-standard OS powered with Yocto Project* 2.1 (Krogoth).

Does this mean that the Linux is supporting the ISP driver (atomisp) and the MIPI CSI-2 drivers for OV8858 and OV7251?

Best Regards.

Hi zero0d,

Thanks for your interest in the Intel Aero Platform.

I will investigate more to see if the cameras are connected directly through MIPI CSI-2. Also if the default image support ISP driver and the MIPI CSI-2 drivers for OV8858 and OV7251.

I appreciate your patience, have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Hi zero0d,

I appreciate your patience. In this thread you will find a guide that explains how to assemble the 8MP RGB Camera (OV8858) and VGA Camera(OV7251) to the Intel Aero. I hope you find this information useful.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Hi Jose,

thank you , this is very helpful information.

But I have another question:

1) When we buy Compute board https://software.intel.com/en-us/aero/dev-kit Compute Board for Intel®Aero | Intel® Software do we get the Linux OS image for the board on some media like CD/USBkey or do we have to download it from somewhere ?

2) When we buy Vision Accessory Kit https://software.intel.com/en-us/aero/vision-kit Vision Accessory Kit | Intel® Aero Platform for UAVs | Intel® Software how we can get the Open source Linux Drivers?

Because it says: " These cameras connect directly to the Intel® Aero Compute Board, and are supported with open source Linux drivers." .

Does this mean it is supported form Intel after buying or are the driver on some media like CD/USBkey or do we have to download it from somewhere?

Best Regards,

David.

Hi David,

You will have to download the Linux OS image. In this link (https://github.com/intel-aero/meta-intel-aero/wiki Home · intel-aero/meta-intel-aero Wiki · GitHub ) you can find a tutorial on how to flash the image into the Intel Aero. The drivers should be included in the image, if you encounter any problems regarding the camera please let us know.

I will be waiting for your reply, have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Hi Jose,

Does the Intel Aero Ready to Fly Drone http://click.intel.com/intel-aero-ready-to-fly-drone.html Intel® Aero Ready to Fly Drone - Intel® Aero Platform Developer Kits comes with mounted Intel Aero Vision Accessory Kit http://click.intel.com/intel-aero-platform-for-uavs-vision-accessory-kit.html Intel® Aero Platform for UAVs Vision Accessory Kit ?

So does the drone also have the two camera MIPI camera (8MP camera and VGA camera) or it only has the RealSense camera(R200)?

We reserved the http://click.intel.com/intel-aero-ready-to-fly-drone.html Intel® Aero Ready to Fly Drone - Intel® Aero Platform Developer Kits , is there a date when it will ship?

Best Regards,

David.

Hi David,

In this community we only do technical support. If I have to guess the three cameras should be included, still I would recommend to contact mailto:click.support@intel.com click.support@intel.com. They should also answer when your product will be shipped, if you have any more technical questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Have a nice day.

Hi Jose,

I am unable to use both the ov7251 & ov8858 cameras. I am copy pasting all the relevant logs from the dmesg related

to both sensors and the ISP.

I have followed the "Dev kit mechanical assembly guide" for connecting the cameras to the board. However the RealSense cameras work with our application that uses librealsense.

Can you pls let me know what I might be doing wrong here?

Regards,

Subash
