Dear sir,
I would like to send roll and pitch commands through one of the MAVROS topics to the FC.
I'm using the PX4 stack and tried all of the relevant topics but nothing seemed to work.
Please Advise.

Thank you for your interest in the Intel Aero Platform. We have an installation wiki page for ROS on Ubuntu that can help you set up your enviornment.

Once installed you can display the available ROS topics with rostopic list and use any Utility commands to set positional arguments. You can find additional information about mavros at the following link: http://wiki.ros.org/mavros

It looks like you are on the right track to send commands through MAVROS topics. Do you have a specific question regarding the Aero Platform? If you have questions regarding MAVROS, I recommend you to take a look at their wiki page.

Do you know how to upload a different PX4 version to the AERO?
I have tried through GCS and through the Aero itself but wasn't able to.

You can build the PX4 code from source and flash the compiled PX4 to the Aero Flight Controller.
