Arc B580 about the fan and the screen refresh rate.

I'm glad Intel has a new graphics card, but there are some problems in the process of use.

1.The refresh rate of the display is limited to 120hz,my display is supporting 144Hz. I tested it on different computers using the same monitor and wire,Nvidia 1660 can show 144Hz,but B580 only 120Hz.

2.This is a very bad problem. Default Settings, no configuration changes,B580 The graphics card fan will start and close at around 55 ℃,and this creates an annoying noise,it may even damage the machine.

However, when I used Intel Graphics Software to tune it on 35%, the fan speed stayed around 1500 RPM,the sound was very uncomfortable, impossible 35%=1500 RPM,it getting worse. I know the fan RPM is not less than 30%, but 35% RPM should not be 1500 RPM,This is an error parameter.

Please do not let the graphics card fan repeatedly start and stop,Please!

I hope to fix these issues, I support Intel and don't let the B580 be my last Intel product.

The configuration:

System:Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (10.0.26100)

CPU:13th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-13400F

Graphics:Intel® Arc™ B580 Graphics

Main board:MAXSUN MS-B760M GAMING WIFI ACE D4

Monitor:ViewSonic VX2458-mhd

Hello Sunday,

Thank you for posting in our communities.

For a possible solution, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined on this link:

And if the issue still persists, please let me know so we can take our next step.

By the way, as for the refresh rate, unfortunately, based on the Arc B580 specifications, the maximum refresh rate that you can use for HDMI is only 120Hz.

  • Max Resolution (HDMI): 7680 x 4320 @ 120Hz
  • Max Resolution (DP): 7680 x 4320 @ 60Hz

For more information regarding Arc B580 specifications, please check out this link:

Thanks for your reply!

OK. I know the refresh rate. Fine.

But I'm pretty sure the noise comes from fans turning on and off when  the graphics card temperature fluctuates around 55℃.

Is 55℃ the critical fan start and stop temperature set by the manufacturer ?

And the graphics card temperature will gradually rise to 55 ℃,even just open the computer and not do anything.  This set by Intel ?

So that's what happens:

①open computer,

②The graphics card temperature rises to 55℃

③Graphics card fans starts, just a few seconds

④The temperature drops below 55℃

⑤Graphics card fans stop

⑥The graphics card temperature rises to 55℃

⑦Graphics card fan starts, just a few seconds

⑧The temperature drops below 55℃

⑨Graphics card fans stop

Repeat steps ② to ⑥, over and over again. You can see it in Top file 03&04,the fans speed and gpu temperature.

Why does setting fan parameters with Intel Graphics Software not work good,It doesn't seem to fit Arc B580.

Hello Sunday,

Thank you so much for the quick response.

In order for me to further investigate our issue, please provide the following information:

  1. What is the brand and model of your power supply? This is to check if your PSU meets the Arc graphics requirements.
  2. Please generate an SSU report to help me further analyze your system specification and configurations. To generate the SSU report, please refer to the article: How to Get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows. Please send me the generated SSU.txt file.

Best regards,
