The following error is being reported on OSX

It is causing serious downstream problems on important software.

I have a mac that is suffering from the consequences of this assertion failure but don't have the know how to recompile the responsible library.

I am hoping someone with more expertise in this area can get involved.

I am willing to follow instructions
