I'm trying to uninstall a previous compiler version and the uninstallation fails. These are the last few lines in the log:
MSI(i) [14:35:09.724] | === Verbose logging stopped: 12/7/2013 14:35:09 ===
MSI(i) [14:35:09.724] |

ISSA(e) [14:35:12.222] | (5729.326): LicenseHandler::validateSerialNumber(): Failed to validate serial number prefix
ISSA(i) [14:35:12.274] | (5265.1097): RegCenterAdapter: hmac_hash(): calculated
ISSA(i) [14:35:12.274] | (5265.410): RegCenterAdapter::RecordLicenseInstallData3() - _____________:RPB:w: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31245 @ 3.30GHz::feature_disabled:2E7V::w:INTEL64:ESD:Intel(R) Composer XE 2013 Update 5 for Windows*::::UNKNOWN:NONEVAL:UNKNOWN
It almost looks like there's some licensing issue, but that doesn't make sense for an uninstall.
Any suggestions on how I can remove this version?
Thanks,
Ron

Do you have a license file present which is valid for that version? If not, can you go to https://registrationcenter.intel.com and have one emailed to you?
Faster response on issues related to licenses is often available on the companion licensing forum.

My license directory has about 10 years of accumulated licenses - whatever this version is looking for ought to be there. I've managed to uninstall every compiler version I had except this one. The splash screen at the beginning of the uninstallation says something about reading licenses, but the process goes past there and asks about modify / repair / remove. Right after I confirm the remove I see a window that says
Error while installing package ""
The system cannot find the path specified.
Then I get the installer window back with Caution: Uninstallation Unsuccessful.

Qiaomin,
I wasn't sure how to identify which license file this is, so I tried removing all of them and also all but the most recent. The uninstallation still didn't work. The last few lines with no licenses are in the log file are below, but there's also an error window saying
Error while installing package ""
The system cannot find the path specified.

This is one of the most frustrating times for a computer user if he is having any issue with a program and it cannot be uninstalled. I am having a same problem with another software which is really irritating for me, the final solution would be to re-install the windows.

I find "Calling process: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Composer XE 2013\setup_5_198\Setup.exe" in the log.
I think as a workaround , you can try the new online installer to override the maybe-corrupted install setup binary ,then it will uninstall the old installation and replace with the one you specified.
Best ,
Qiao

I had the same problem when I tried to uninstall it from the control panel of Windows 7, I solved using the installer that Software Manager downloaded in the folder Documents\Intel\Downloads

Yes, if you select the (seemingly perfectly normal) option to delete the downloaded files (or something becomes corrupted), the add/remove menu will not be able to remove the installation. As mentioned earlier, you may be able to recover by downloading the same version. General Windows uninstall tools may work.
