It's not a RAM issue (well, provided you have a minimum of 2GB); it is mostly a storage issue.
What I have done is install a 32GB or 64GB flash card in each Compute Stick (do this with it powered off). I then told Windows (via the Settings / System / Storage / Change where new content is saved link) to use this flash card for all content save operations. This frees up enough space on the eMMC SSD and, with the additional storage space that the flash disk makes available, the updates complete without issue. I was successful doing this on all four (FC, SC, CC m3 and CC m5) Compute Sticks. I also used this same technique to upgrade some of the NUCs (NUC5PGYH, NUC6CAYS) as well as my Windows-based tablet, in order to get around their storage limitations.

Thanks for this. I'm shortly hoping to add the 128GB Kingston SSD recommended/approved somewhere on here - largely because price difference with 64GB was minimal 😃
