Since about two month, I've trouble with the stick. Independent if I use the stick with the preinstalled MS Windows 10 or with Linux or a OS bootet on USB Memory Stick, if I leave the running over a while (e.G. SW installation, OS update, presentation, ...) the system is frozen. Nicer the mouse shift brings reactions on the screen, nor an input or pressing the power bottom to start the shut down or soft reset via ctrl+alt+delete starts an reaction. The system still hangs, only the fan starts sometimes and stops again.
Is there any idea if this will be a reason? Can this a reason on SW or are there any settings for the cooler which can have influence or is this a poor HW error and I should send the stick back to the supplier?

Are you sure it is hung? There are many HDMI-based monitors and TVs out there that do not properly wake from low-power sleep when signaled by the computer. In this case, the ICS is still running, but you do not get a display. I suggest that you go into Window's Power Options Control Panel applet and change its plan settings to never turn off the display.
As for temperature, there is a setting in BIOS Setup that allows you to choose between M1 and M2 modes. Select the M2 mode. This ensures that the fan is always on.
Hope this helps,

@Scott
Thanks for the reply, but like I told, the screensaver is not running. Desktop is only be frozen, I can still see the complete desktop and running programs. But no action accures like the main clock is stopped and only the screenrefresh is running. From my experience as electronic engineer, it looks like an soldering problem cold soldering point. Esspecially the fact, that the error occurs with all OS (Linux and Windows) in the same load conditions (like high system load and the cooler runs a while - so like thermal stress due to heating from power consumption of the CPU and the cooler cools down the chip housing).

Hello UbIx,
Try to do a BIOS recovery to the latest BIOS version; you can download the latest version here:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26360/BIOS-Update-FCBYT10H-86A- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26360/BIOS-Update-FCBYT10H-86A-
Please see http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-compute-stick/000005902.html BIOS Recovery Instructions for Intel® Compute Stick
If the BIOS recovery does not work, try the unit with another Monitor/TV, if the problem persists, see if you can do a system restore.
Reset the system to factory defaults:
- Remove any SD card, if installed.
- Press F8 when you see this prompt during boot: F8 to Activate Windows 8.1* Windows 10 * Recovery Mode.
- Select Troubleshoot.
- Select Reset your PC, then select Next.
- Select Just remove my files.
- Select Reset to start the restore process.
If nothing solves the problem, submit a https://customercare.intel.com/?lang=en-US web ticket to get a replacement
Regards,
Ivan

@Ivan
OK, I've done this Recovery after the system was frozen during the BIOS update, but also I needed to runs - to reach the end of the Recovery. In the moment the Recovery seems to be running, so the circling dots are still running (6% in the last 30min. - so I hope that this time this will not be broken).
After this I will replace my BIOS 31 with the new BIOS 32.

Hi Ivan,
all is now done and I've still tested the Stick. But again, I've sometimes the situation, that the stick still hangs (with visible desktop). In the moment I stopped testing, due to the fact that I've rented them to my neighbor, so his system have a Virus/Trojaner infection. But I think I send him back to supplier with remark on the (in Germany available 2 years Warranty from Supplier - named short GWL).
Thanks
