My Device (Intel Compute Stick) received Windows 10 Fall Update (Build 10586) via Windows Update.
My Device keeps hanging either during or just after login.
I tried many recovery options which failed, hence, had to reset my device.
Now, I able to login via the Safe Mode ONLY - the version still shows as Windows 10.0.10586.
I am unable revert back to either ORIGINAL "Windows 8.1 with Bing" or "Windows 10.0.10240".

Same here, and we have sold a few of these to customers as well. I have sent an email out to our partner rep, so hopefully there is something that comes back from him soon. The stick that we 'bricked' was factory loaded w/ 8.1 on it, upgraded to 10. (home x86)
We have tried numerous things including reloading the OS, with minor success, but all in all, the build basically soft bricks the compute sticks.
We just got a few brand new compute sticks in that came factory loaded w/ 10, and are attempting to update them, and will post back when we have more information.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's got this issue. This is what I've tried so far.
During the update to Build 10586, installation will fail at various point. After reboot, it seem to be fine but it finally failed to a "Getting things Ready" after Win 10 is preparing my user profile.
Resetting the OS will hang at 95%. At this point, OS is NOT bootable even to safe mode. I have also updated to the latest BIOS.
I used Media Creation Tool to create a Win10 1511 installer on SDcard & Thumbdrive. Installing Win 10 1511 from scratch always fail during "Getting files ready...". The furthest I got was 74%. It makes no difference whether it's SDcard or Thumbdrive hooked up, internally or through a USB Hub. Result is always the same.
Thinking it's a eMMC module failure, I deleted ALL partitions and let Win 10 1511 recreate all System Reserved & Recovery partition automatically. Unfortunately it still failed at "Getting files ready...". I even got chkdsk to scan for bad sectors.
Searching online indicates the only way to recover at this point is to use the Original Win 8.1 with Bing system image to rewrite the file system. Unfortunately, I didn't create that. At this point, I've temporarily given up after rebooting and trying more than 50 times.
Since Win 10 1511 seem to be incompatible, what I'm thinking to try next, create a Win 10 Build 10240 installation on thumbdrive from my archived ISO. Try installing from there. Or Bittorent Win 8.1 system image but that, of course, is risky due to possibility of virus.
I may also try to full format the partition before installing in case of bad bits in the eMMC module.
Anyone here has better luck, please share. If it turns out to be a problem with BIOS/UEFI, can Intel please PM me the file so I can try? I'm hoping NOT to have to send it in.
