Ubuntu Compute Stick video playing problems

I have just bought a Compute Stick with Ubuntu as the OS.

I mostly works fine on my TV, until I start playing online videos - mostly with the audio. Using the Chromium browser, youtube videos played fine until I go to full screen, the the audio goes mute. This also happens with videos on NZ'z TV One (www.tvnz.co.nz, and TV3. www.tv3.co.nz)

On the firefox browser, the youtube videos work fine on fullscreen, as do the videos on the TVNZ website. By on the TV3 site, the initial commercials play fine in fullscreen, but then the TV programme ondemand doesn't play - just a blank screen..

Let me go ahead and test that for you and I will let you know if we get the same result.

Meanwhile, I recommend updating the BIOS to the latest version, you can see the instructions how to update the BIOS at:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-035443.htm http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-035443.htm

Please download the latest BIOS version that will need to do the BIOS update at:

Hi,

From my past experience, I noticed that a BIOS update does help with the graphics performance. For my case, I was using an older version and updated it to version 25. I saw from the above link the latest BIOS version is version 27, not sure what are the changes.

Intel, is there a Change Log to show what are the bug fixes or additional features available? This is very important for my existing deployments because I will need to know if I should update them.

Found the release log... but couldn't tell what the impact will be when running on the actual ICS

Thanks ivanu.

I have managed to improve the video playing on my compute stick somewhat.

The compute stick was my first experience of using Ubuntu. I have since loaded it as an OS on a laptop, and had some similar problems with videos. I have learned there are some flashplayer issues with Ubuntu 14.04. I managed to fix some of the issues on the laptop, and less on the compute stick. I was able to install pepper flash on the laptop, but kept getting an error message on the compute stick. I think youtube videos are now playing ok on both - I think that was a result of installinh a flash plugin.

I went through and checked today with the following results:

TV 3 ondemand works fine on Chromium on laptop

TVOne ondemand don't work on Chromium on laptop

TV3 ondemand doesn't work on FF on laptop – shows ad then blank screen

TV One ondemand doesn't work on FF on laptop - blank screen

TV One ondemand doesn't work on Opera on PC blank screen

TV 3 ondemand works fine on Opera on pc

TVOne ondemand don't work on Chromium on compute stick

TV 3 ondemand works partially on Chromium on compute stick - stops and starts

TVOne ondemand don't work on firefox on compute stick

TV 3 ondemand doesn't on firefox on compute stick – works only for ad

I'll also have a go at updating the BIOS tonight (although, I'm not sure what it is - still getting used to using Ubuntu).

I also will look again at the RAM. I am a bit confused by it. I got a message that I had almost used up the amount of RAM. I tried a disc clean up, kept emptying the browsers caches and got it down to 4.5 or so.

i haven't loaded or stored that much on it.
