3 out of 4 mem slots fail on 4th gen i5 4570 Intel® 8 Series (Q87) Merlin Rev A. Mem swaped and still same results EliteDesk 800 G1 HP

Im in need of some insight, on a memory issue with an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 tower.

Our customer stated that the system Blue Screened while running. We ran a system diag with our diag software and found memory slot (or stick) 1, 3 and 4 had errors (see picture) (4) 8 gig sticks. We swapped the memory around and got the same results. System is a few years old but never had any issues. Could this be

the CPU? BIOS? North Bridge? Any help would be appreciated, Thanx, Steve

There are a number of possibilities here. The circuitry involved consists of the processor, which provides the memory controllers, the board, which provides the support circuitry for the memory buses (termination resistors, etc.) and the DIMMs themselves, which provides bus interface circuitry and the DRAM I/Cs themselves.

If you are saying that the errors stay with the DIMM slots, even when you swap the positions of the individual DIMMs, then you are looking at a failure on the board or in the processor. The processor is the easiest thing to swap to see if this isolates the problem...

Hope this helps,
