BIOS upgrade to 0053 crippled my DZ77RE-75K

Jump to solution

Hi,

an upgrade of my DZ77RE-75K to the latest BIOS (0053) has crippled it. The MB was able to boot to the Windows in the legacy mode after the update. But when I enabled UEFI Boot in the setting it failed to do POST. MB beeps four times and the status code stuck at 0xCB value. BIOS reset by the jumper or hw config changes have no effect.

DZ77RE-75K is a crappy board.

did you select UEFI boot in the visual bios, or legacy bios?

if you go into the legacy bios make sure UEFI boot and Legacy boot are both enabled.

Hi Shaun,

thats the point. After the bios upgrade and some playing with setting. I had left Legacy boot accidentally disabled in the legacy bios menu and that caused the beep of death.

Now it is ok, and with new bios I can boot linux kernel in UEFI mode.

glad it worked, I'm hoping for a UEFI fix for my DZ77BH-55K, as Windows works fine with UEFI, but Linux Kernel doesn't.
