We are a group of students hoping to utilize PCIE cards on a PCB. The cards are going to be PCIE 16x each. We are looking into using a intel chipset as a PCIE controller, as there will not be a CPU on this PCB. Instead the controller works in conjunction with a FPGA to relay the information to another PCIE card. We have looked on the internet, however a PCIE 16x controller chip cannot be found. Thus we turned to chipsets, because they are affordable and they have lots of PCIE lanes. Can I use a intel chipset under this condition? If not, then are there ways that I can control PCIE cards? Thank you in advance.
