D510MO with 4Gb Corsair CM2X2048-6400C4 ram failing to boot

Hi,

I've just received my D510MO and instantly started it up using 2 x 2Gb of corsair memory. However the board refuses to boot, simply showing a blank screen (screen LED doesn't even turn green, so it's not receiving any input). The memory is DDR2 non-ecc 800mhz ram as specified.

If I take one of the two memory sticks out and replace with a 1Gb corsair stick (also 800mhz non-ecc ram) then the board will boot up fine (with 3Gb of ram)

Both the 2Gb sticks and the 1Gb sticks are rated for 4-4-4-12, but the bios insists they should run at 8-8-8-27. Trying to manually set the timings results in a board that will not boot, not matter which ram sticks I put in. I then have to go into recovery-mode and reset the timings to "auto" to get it to boot.

I'm running the latest bios upgrade (version 0175). The memory giving me problems is the Corsair CM2X2048-6400C4DHZ version.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Jesper

Re: D510MO with 4Gb Corsair CM2X2048-6400C4 ram failing to boot

Most of the Intel(R) Desktop Boards are validated to work with 800 mhz memory modules rated for 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 timings with a voltage of 1.8v.

The memory you have installed may not be compatible with those specifications and the system is trying to clock the memory as good as possible, usually the cl4 memory is rated for higher voltages like 1.9v or 2.1v

You may need to try some regular memory rated for 800 mhz at 1.8v with cl5 or cl6 and see what happens

Thanks Diego_ Intel. I figured it was something like that. I'll have to give that a try (eventhough it pains me to leave 4Gb of memory unused 🙂

Re: D510MO with 4Gb Corsair CM2X2048-6400C4 ram failing to boot

Hi,

Excuse me for reopening this thread...

I've got a pair of Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5DHX 2G modules, and the D510MO and it also (or still) refuses to boot...

The module also says it is a 800mhz 5-5-5-18 timings 1.80v and a version number (ver4.1)

anyone any thoughts since last year....

Pascal
