DH77EB + HD 4000 and 23.976Hz

This question was asked before but was never answered.

According to reviews on Missing Remote and Anandtec back in April, the new IB processors support 23.976Hz with a 'new' BIOS and appropriate drivers.

I have a DH77EB, i3-3225

BIOS 089

Win7 Sp1 x64

Driver v 2761

latest MEI (I think 8.0 or 8.1)

I can see that screen resolution 1080p23 is offered, as well as 1080p24

However, both result in a 24.00xxHz refresh rate.

What needs to be done to get 23.97xxx (i know it won't be perfect, but at least somewhere near the ideal value).

Cheers,

Is this fixed yet with the latest BIOS? Anyone tested this?

New BIOSes came out just now, and I note that the latest 093 for this board still has VBIOS 2132, whereas the new BIOSes for e.g. the DH77DF and ~KC have VBIOS 2143.

Assuming that the 23.976 issue might be related to the VBIOS, can anyone care to comment the capablities with the new VBIOS 2143.

DH77EB Bios 093 still has this issue.

No way to set 23p, 29p, 59p

They end up as 24p, 30p, 60p respectively.

However, I've been told, the DH77DF actually achieves 23,972 or so ... (like older series 6 + SB).

Why is this different on that board, is this some kind of trade-off?

Applied BIOS 096 today.

Still no 23p.

Has any one succeeded in setting up a 23.976 Hz refresh rate on this board?

Could someone from Intel please confirm, whether this is in fact something that should work on the DH77EB ?

Or is this functionality only available (by design) e.g. in the DH77DH and other INtel / non Intel boards.

Is there a specific AA# number required for this to work?

No answer for 4 weeks,

Someone from Intel: please comment.

This Issue have been commented by Intel here:

Those threads were series 6 related, and it was solved (a year ago, or so), seemingly for most of those boards.

This is series 7 all new and improved, and Intel promised to have 'improved this behaviour significantly'.

So what I see is, that some 7 series boards have the same behaviour as the series 6 (i.e. DH77DF), but the DH77EB is back to the series 5 level.

And the last comment from Intel on that thread was:

/message/128161# 128161 Re: Cannot use 23Hz or 59Hz settings on G6x graphics.

We are looking at this issue now, stay tuned.

.

So, Intel, please tell us not if, but WHEN this is going to be fixed!

You are right.

Here is another Thread with this Problem, without any solution for the 23,976Hz Problem:

I managed to create a ticket for this on the phone support line. It seems that Intel support isn'T aware of any such issue. That might be because it is so old (fixed a year ago for the series 6 boards) that no one thought it would pop up again...

Let's see what happens.

Maybe all of us should create such a Ticket? There isn't a way to create such a Ticket by email or Chat Support?

I have also created such a Ticket by Intel chat support.

Yes, Intel know it, cause in my Ticket i say'd that i have BIOS Version 0098

This seems to dead. No response from Intel on my ticket for > 2 months now.

So We have at least 2 known issues with the BIOS:

1. this one

2. and the missing microcode update for the rdrand instruction (INtel processsor bug 54V)

The last response from intel was on Feb 11th. :

I am still waiting for an answer from the engineering department. As I said in a previous email, I will come back to you as soon as I will have any information. Sorry to make you wait so long.

the Answer

"I tried to call you this morning but I had not answer. The reason I am contacting you it is because I had an answer from the engineering department. Unfortunately the problem you are facing with the refresh rate on the DH77EB will not be solved by a BIOS update or a workaround as it is a design limitation."

Yup, got (literally) the same email today...

So DH77EB is officially broken in this respect.
