i have a really old mb.
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Product Name: DQ965GF
Version: AAD41676-305.
i have 4 slots that can take 2gb each. i have 2 gb ram at the moment. i want to upgrade this to 8gb ram. but the technician says he thinks there may be a bad memory slot. if what he says is true, to how many gb of ram can i upgrade this to? ive read that ram must be paired.

If you have a bad slot, you will be limited to having only 6GB (2GB is each working slot). You want RAM paired for best performance, but you can get away with using an odd number of DIMMs (it will just be slower).
