DX58SO: 4GB RAM DIMMs make the system beep and remain black (screen)

Hi,

I've a desktop which I bought back in 2009.
 
Details:
CPU: i7 CPU  920
MB: DX58SO
BIOS: SOX5810J.86A.4405.2009.1020.1419
Memory: 3 identical DIMMs of 4GB

I had to get back to my original 1GB DIMMs

My memory module has a REG label on it, which means it's a registered memory. 

In the link you sent (thanks), it seems registered modules are not supported:
"

  • Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs with a voltage rating of 1.65 V or less

"

That, I think, means they are not meant to work
