DX79SR: Can't use PCI-E x16 (x8 electrical) with x1 card (Sound card, serial card or USB card)

Community Manager

I am having major issue with the PCI Express x16 connector (x8 electrical) to work with x1 card.

All the x1 cards I have tried, Creative X-Fi Xtreme audio, Sunix 4 port serial and Sunix USB 2.0 4 port. They all have the same yellow bang message "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)". Location PCI Bus 2, device 0, function 0.

I have disabled onboard sound, USB 3.0 and Marvell 6.0Gb SATA but still no luck.

Tried to use 2nd x16 video card into x16 connector (x8 electrical), works OK.

PC Spec: DX79SR (BIOS 0553)

i7 3820

4x2GB Kingston HyperX 1600

Gigabyte GTX 570

Win7 32bit (Updated)

Need some help please!!

Thanks in advance,

Have recognized same issue with an Adaptec RAID Card 6405E which is a x1 slot card. Any other slot besides the x1 slot (which runs over the chipset) causes a non boot of my pc...

But installing the card in the x1 slot isn't the allround solution either as it slows down the boot sequence seriously... Have posted this issue in another thread of mine... but it would be nice if there comes some information of the official side...
