DZ77GA-70K - Bios Update from version 49 to 53 failed

Hi,

I tried to update from bios version 0049 to 0053 today but it failed. During the flash, the BIOS reported that all modules had been successfully flashed except the last one (Intel Management Engine), saying it had failed.

The bios then seemingly rolled back to 0049 by itself, although upon boot into Windows I still got a notification from the BIOS update .exe file that it had completed successfully.

Any further information on this issue from users or support would be appreciated!

delete the file you downloaded, then redownload the bios update.

Try it again, if that doesn't work, download the bios image and put on a USB flash drive, then reboot hitting F7 to update the bios from the flash drive.

you don't have to load defaults, however after the update I would load defaults, then make your changes.

I downloaded the WINPE bios update file to see if there was any issue with the first Express Bios update file (GAZ7711H.86A.0053.EB.EXE) that I downloaded.

I still get the same problem, the bios update fails to flash the first module (Intel Management Engine) and does not continue.

I previously stated that all the other modules had successfully updated, this was false.

instead of the WINPE edition, why not try the normal windows installer I linked to:

Because I have been using the Windows Installer one.

Anyway, i re-downloaded the bios update again and this time I ran the update file from my C: drive (SSD) instead of my secondary (HDD) D: drive.

I also restarted before I ran the update file and used the "Load Defaults" setting on my bios.

This made the update work and complete.

I am having the same exact problem. I've tried every method to flash the BIOS to the latest, however all of them show the failed message.

I believe I am running 0045, and any and every attempt to flash to something newer fails.

Any thoughts?

I had the same problem with a previous BIOS update. You need to use the yellow jumper method. Download the .bio file, save it to a clean blank USB stick, shut the machine down, pull the yellow recovery jumper, put the USB stick in a non 3.0 USB jack, power up.

Ken,

I did exactly what you said-

1. Downloaded the latest .bio file to a clean FAT-32 formatted USB stick

2. Powered off the PC and put the USB stick into one of the yellow ports on the back of the PC

3. Pulled the yellow BIOS jumper

4. Powered the PC back on

What I saw was that the PC started and that the numbers went from 04 to 31, however nothing happened for atleast 30 minutes. No access to the USB key at all.

I took my chances by pulling the plug again and re-installing the jumper. Luckily the PC didn't brick and booted up again. (Hence how I am writing this.)

How does what you did differ from what I did? (Also, if this would have worked, how do you tell when the bios update is complete? Does the PC automatically power itself off?)

Thanks!

Drew

Hi Drew, Ideally speaking it should work. Can you try using 0053 BIOS then 0058. I hope this works. Thanks, - Ravi

Ravi,

Thanks for the advice... I was able to upgrade from 49 > 53 > 59, however I had to do the recovery method (jumper pull) both times to get to the latest.

Thanks again!

Drew
