I'm a longtime Linux user (10 years on Gentoo next month), and I recently bought the DZ77SL-50K to replace an Asus board whose S-ATA controller died.
I've tried loading the sound system through the snd-hda-intel driver, but it fails to detect the motherboard's chipset. Instead it only sees the HDMI output from my graphics card as an SPDIF output. And obviously that's not the output I'd like to use.
If anyone has any clue what I should look for or which driver to use, I'd appreciate it!
P.S: I can see the chipset with lspci, and dmesg, but alsamixer doesn't detect it at all. But lspci -v displays the snd-hda-intel driver for it. It just doesn't work in the meantime.
Based on the fact that Linux* is not a supported Operating System for this motherboard, our recommendation is forwarding your inquiry to your Linux* distribution support community for further assistance on your original inquiry. http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-008326.htm Desktop Boards — Supported operating systems
