I just plugged a hard drive into one of the secondary (Marvell) SATA slots of my DZ77GA-70k board and booted into the BIOS. I observed all of my other drives plugged into the Intel SATA ports, and I also observed the secondary SATA controller check box checked as operational, but I didn't see any devices listed there. Continuing to boot into the OS, of course the drive was invisible there as well.
I've confirmed that it's not the drive by swapping sata cables with another drive that had been plugged into an intel SATA port -- when I did that, the new drive appeared and the old one disappeared. I've also tried several different cables.
Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
What we can recommend you for this issue is the following:
- Make sure the motherboard is running the latest BIOS version: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/JSONDataProvider.aspx?DownloadType=BIOS https://downloadcenter.intel.com/JSONDataProvider.aspx?DownloadType=BIOS
- Install the Marvell drivers provided on the following link:
- Verify the Secondary SATA ports are enable on BIOS.
Since you already performed a BIOS updated and new driver's installation it could be that your motherboard got a defective Marvell controller.
You would need to get in touch with out Warranty Department so they can help you to replace the unit: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport
I'd be curious to know if you have edited any BIOS settings for this problem to have surfaced. I have noticed that when UEFI is enabled enabling all the boot speed up options will cause exactly this problem. And yesterday I noticed that enabling SecureBoot also causes it.
