After an update from 0039 to 0042 the board did not pass the POST anymore. I disconnected all unnecessary hardware, reseated memory, with no success. No chance to enter the firmware settings. Port 80h code before restarting was E6.
After a recovery BIOS downgrade to 0039 everything was fine.
So what is the problem? Buggy BIOS? Hardware failure?
Obcy, thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us. I already reported this situation to the corresponding department in order to check if there is a bug on this BIOS version.
In the mean time, please keep your system with BIOS v0039.
I am also running 0042, didn't see the problem (but the DZ68BC bios quality has been not that good). 0042 resolved my problem with the "unsupported CPU screen" at startup. The only other main new feature in 0042 is a firmware upgrade for several CPU types. Which specific hardware do you have (board revision, CPU, memory type)?
Removing some memory banks temporarily may trigger a new initialization that can solve the problem, I have used this in the past when DZ68BC goes in 'restart' mode (actually seen once with 0042).
My best results are also by using the F7 bios update. To be sure you could download 0042 again to ensure the file was not corrupted during the download.
My impression (based on the history of DZ68BC bios releases) is however that something was broken in 0042 that is only triggered on your motherboard revision+CPU+memory-type combination+psu.
I am having the same issue! Frustrating.

Gurgi63, I'm sorry for the inconvenience that you have faced with your motherboard. Would you please provide some important information?
Which is the current BIOS version on your board?
Which is the AA# of your motherboard?
Would you please describe the behavior of your system? Are you getting beeps?
Thanks
Current bios as of 3/4/2014: 0039
AA# G30472-402
No beeps, just displays Intel splash screen then reboots, it won't even allow you to access the bios.
Giurgiu 63, would you please test your system out of the chassis? This in order to discard any grounding to the board
You said that you have the same behavior when using a 2nd generation processor like the I3-2120, correct?
Have you ever used this system or it has never worked since you purchased it?
I had problems from the beginning because I was using an i5 processor and the bios (0028) apparently didn't support it. The board would give the three beeps of a memory error. After I tried the i3 processor it booted but wouldn't take a bios update until I updated to 0029 then it let me update to 0036 and when it wouldn't take 0042 I loaded 0039. I loaded all bios updates outside of the case since I had been having issues with the board. I didn't install the board in the case until it posted with the i5-3770s. Even after loading windows the board won't take bios 0042 from windows or boot to usb flash drive.
Gurgi63, could you please send me a private message letting me know where are you located?
Could you also include your personal information?
Thanks,
I too am having this issue. I am using the i7-2600K processor and was getting the notification about using an invalid processor after the update to BIOS 39. Although the error message is now gone, the machine will reboot typically three times before it will boot into Windows. Each time it boots, the system will go all the way through the MARVELL controller posts and then after the 2nd controller posts on the screen, the machine will shut itself down and start again. It will go through this twice, and then finally reboot into windows.
I am using board AA-G30742-401.
I tried flashing back to bios 0039, and then windows ceases to function after approximately 5 minutes. I'm currently using bios 0042 and its stable once running, but the rebooting thing needs to be corrected.
I have two Seagate ST3000DM001 drives connected to the Marvell controller (light blue) in a RAID1 configuration
I have a Corsair Force GT SSD drive connected to the PCH controller (blue)
and I have a Seagate ST31500541AS drive connected to the PCH controller (black)
I have the same configuration (i7-2600K, AA-G30742-401, BIOS 0042) but not seen that kind of problems. I do have the MARVELL controller disabled (it is slow anyway, compared to the PCH) in the BIOS.
My AA-G30742-401 is a replacement board however, I did see restarts like this with my original board and older versions of the BIOS. You could check if your board is still under warranty.
in order to find out is you board is still under warranty It will be necessary to check the markings of the board, so would you please send me a private message with the AA# and the serial number?
This information is going to be located at the motherboard itself, on a white sticker label close to the memory slots
@arhame, could you also send me the markings thought a private message?
My Nephew has a DZ68BC just upgraded to BIOS 86A.0042.2013.0902.1038 and he is experiencing system hang ups. cycling through posts at startup. Anyone have any suggestions?
