Disable S5 deep sleep for WoL on D525MW

Hello! I've got a D525MW (AAE93082-401) with the latest BIOS installed.

I've tried enabling the "Wake on LAN on S5 state" feature from the BIOS menu, but I'm not able to let the computer wake on magic packet sent. I think the problem is that when I shutdown the computer, it goes to S5 state on deep sleep mode, because the ethernet card shuts down, too.

I've setup the OS to enable this feature (via ethtool, the WoL enabled and set to "g").

Is there anything I've missed? I see no option at all about deep sleep on my BIOS.

Thanks

Does the feature work from a different state?

Do you see the LAN LEDs working during normal operation?

Hello Joe,

I have never tried waking on LAN from a sleep state and I'm not sure I'm able to put on sleep the computer. The LAN LEDs work normally during S0, while they're off in S5. As the feature name is pretty much explanatory ("Wake on LAN on S5 state"), shouldn't it let the ethernet card be powered even on shutdown?

Did you configure your system according to this article?

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-034257.htm Desktop Boards — Configuring Wake-on-LAN

What is your BIOS version? There is a fix for WOL in BIOS version 080.

Furthermore, the Technical Product Specification describes the LED activity in page 24.

Hello Joe,

thanks for the reply. I've got the latest firmware installed, i.e. version MWPNT10N.86A (downloaded via https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=&ProductID=3253&ProdId=3253 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=&ProductID=3253&ProdId=3253).

As of configuring WoL in the BIOS, I've only have, under the power management panel, the option "Wake on LAN on S5 state" (boolean, enabled or disabled) set to "enabled". There is no other option regarding WOL, S states or Ethernet card (besides integrated chipsets section which I can use to completely disable it). When the computer is being shut down, the ethernet card just turns off with the other components (both LED A and B are off). My operating system is being configured to enable WoL software side (WoL type "g").

Thank you very much.
