I believe that the answer is yes, but I haven't tried this and thus cannot answer with 100% confidence. Let's go through what we know...

  • We know that multiple RAID arrays are supported.
  • We know that an array cannot contain both NVMe and SATA drives.
  • We know that NVMe drives can be exclusively included in an array.
  • We know that SATA drives connected to the chipset SATA ports can be exclusively included in an array.

From all this, I conclude that it should be possible. Without actually having a motherboard that supports two (Type M) M.2 slots as well as exposing at least two of the chipset SATA ports, I cannot try this and thus cannot answer with 100% confidence.

Hope this helps,

...S
