Intel D525MW with Windows 8

Jump to solution

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with my desktop board Intel D525MW COM port. I was previously running windows 7 with devices on my COM1. Recently, I installed Windows 8 on an Intel SSD. After booting from Windows 8, COM1 on the motherboard was not recognized by any software, even though it was appearing in device manager. I tried booting from Windows 7, and the COM1 was working fine. Is there anything I can do to get Windows 8 to talk to the motherboard properly?

Hi Mart,

We would like to inform you that the D525MW was not designed to support Windows 8 reason why the troubleshooting we offer is limited:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-008326.htm Desktop Boards — Supported operating systems

Our recommendation is using a fully compatible Operating System or contacting Microsoft for further assistance on your inquiry.
