hi. just like what the title say, how much maximum total system memory for intel DH61WW? I'm a bit confused, because what I read in some source is different. like:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/desktop-board-dh61ww.html Intel® Desktop Board DH61WW
is says that this board is support for maximum 16GB of system memory.
but when I see in some review website, it says just support for maximum 8GB. for example:
so, can someone tell me which is true? or can someone explain to me, how can I upgrade to 16GB of system memory and work well?
I think I don't very understand about this
See the DH61WW http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dh61ww/sb/CS-032148.htm Technical Product Specification. In there it indicates that the -003 revision Updated maximum memory supported from 8 GB to 16 GB in March 2012.
thanks for the reply John!
so, if my mainboard is like the image, can I upgrade to 16GB maximum total memory?
and if I can, what is specification of 8GB ram that I have to use that fully compatible to this mainboard and work properly?
With BIOS version BEH6110H.86A.0020.2011.0218.1538 released February 18, 2011 the max memory size was modified to 16G. You're running the current BIOS version release BEH6110H.86A.0113.2013.0226.1448 that was released February 26, 2013. You should be able to realize the maximum memory capability.
First of all I apologize for replying on an old thread.
Actually I am seeking help on the same topic, so did not want to start a new one.
Please validate if my current BIOS version will be able to handle 16G memory if the version is as below:
Awaiting a response from you.
Hello Bithing14, thanks a lot for posting your question at Intel communities.
I was checking the BIOS versions available for this motherboard on the download center, and there are 14 different files from the current version and the latest one.
Technically speaking, going straight to the latest version shouldn't be a problem, but in the practice and based on experience, there is always chance. So I would recommend you to update the BIOS installing as many versions you can.
The current BIOS version installed is 0041. The following versions included fixes related to memory. I would recommend checking the BIOS Update Release Notes on this URL. You will be able to see the fixes and features included on each version.
These are some important versions you could flash on your system.
BIOS Version 0046 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21850 Intel® Download Center
BIOS version 0099 added support for Microsoft Windows 8*. Due to structural changes in version 0099, once a board has been converted to 0099 or later, it will no longer be possible to downgrade the BIOS to version 0048 or earlier. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22413 Intel® Download Center
BIOS Version 0109 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22415 Intel® Download Center
BIOS Version 0111 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22509 Intel® Download Center
BIOS Version 0115 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22788 Intel® Download Center
If the system is working fine using BIOS version 0115, it won't be necessary to install the latest version.
