Hallo Support Team,
is it possible to install on the DQ67EP a SSD or HDD for the OS and a Raid 5 with 4-5 HDDs on the same Controller (parallel). I would install two drives on the esata ports.
Plan: 1x small Samsung 840 EVO SSD for the OS, 4-5x 3TB Toshiba HDDs for the RAID 5
CPU: i5-2400s (VT-d, vPro)
Thank you
Stergios

Hello Stergios, this motherboard comes with two 6.0 gb/s SATA ports (blue), two 3.0 gb/s SATA ports (black) and two backpanel eSATA 3 Gb/s ports for external connectivity (red).
I recommend you to create the RAID 5 using the internal SATA ports. Something very important is that this RAID will run at 3.0 gb/s, since you are mixing the ports.
The operating system can be install on ESATA external drive, just make sure you have this ESATA drive set as the default device to boot. You will need a converter from ESATA to regular SATA.
Thanks for the precise answer and the support Sylvia.
I have been afraid to have to install a second controller.
So I can now begin to build.
Sincerely yours
Stergios
