Intel DX58SO - Given BIOS update will not work. Any Ideas?

Hi, I've tried downloading and running "SOX5810J.86A.5600.IB.exe" in order to update my BIOS. However, though I am running a 64-bit version of windows 7, whenever I try to run the program, it tells me that the file is not compataible with my version of Windows.

So my checklist is looking like this.

  1. Check windows version (Win-7x64) = Check
  2. Download latest bios update for Intel DX58SO = Check
  3. Double check that the correct file was download (looks ok....) = Check
  4. Run update and be happy = X

The only thing that could POSSIBLY be halting my progress is that my windows is apparently Windows 7 Ultimate. Should that make any difference? (The Download page has NO options for Ultimate)

Hi enemyofstate,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your unit but let me help and guide you on this.

The Bios update is installed directly in the Chipset so the windows version should not affect at all during this process. If you are trying the .exe file and it is failing, I recommend you trying with the F7 which is downloading the zip file and under this folder you will find a file with extension .BIO.

You can download the .bio file at the following link:

Here are the steps to use the f7 method:
