Intel Mobo Brief Power Up upon connection to power supply

Hi Everyone

I have a question in general about Intel Motherboards. We have seen that some desktop motherboards from Intel that we use in our embedded products will have a very brief power cycle that occurs when you first apply power to the motherboard.

More recently, we have seen some Mt Washington (DW525MW) motherboards that DON'T do this behavior, and then it seems that with later BIOS updates, they DO have this behavior.

What causes this brief power on / power off event, what purpose does it serve, and is there a way to stop it from happening|? It is annoying our customers...

Thanks in advance for sharing your insights...

Hello Musobryan,

I understand that you are inquiring about the fact that some motherboards will do a short power on when power is applied to them.

In regards to your question this is normal behavior and it will occur on some motherboards as there is an initialization of the AMT or Intel® Management Engine and there is no way to disable this.

Regards
